Ooh! I was learning about a camembert cooker over the weekend from my French niece-in-law https://sizzle.co.uk/provencale-ceramic-camembert-baker-cover-12-5cm-white-241940011?gclid=CNTY9ti1gscCFdQZtAodePMJyg
Choccie smells/smells of foods you need to avoid temporarily, are a great thing - I used to use that in the car driving back from London late on Friday nights, as my business partner always used to eat really good quality chocolate, which smelt divine :rotfl:2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Ooh, a camembert cooker! :j I confess I don't have a big thing for it and was actually trying to buy goats cheese, but it was three times the size and half the price so that's what I ended up with
Sometimes I get off the train in York and the smell from the Rowntrees factory is wafting through the air... and then I wonder why I end up eating chocolate at 10am!
Last day of work today :j :j SO excited0 -
Yep, me neither. I don't go "ooh, camembert ... " I go "oooh, chocolate ..."
Last day! Exciting :j2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Yep, me too with the chocolate
Both holiday cottages booked (we're switching in the middle of the fortnight - which is what you get when you book your holiday 24 hours before you leave :rotfl: )
Just been to a 'piloxing' class :rotfl: :rotfl: Cross between pilates and boxing apparently, but I can't help saying it 'PILLOCK-sing' rather than 'pil-OX-ing' :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
Right.
Bank's looking rather sorry for itself:rotfl: But that's because I've been very naughty and swiped next month's holiday and no quibble budgets (plus some of my train fare to work that I won't need) to pay for the cottages :rotfl: Of course, next month's money arrives in 3 hours so that's hardly a crisis but in the meantime I've had to poach it outof the savings account - DON'T LET ME FORGET TO PUT IT BACK! Gosh, all this swapping and changing is like the old days - I have to say I don't miss it at all!
Half packed, and despite having had a short unintentional napI'm rather tired so we're going to give up soon and have an early night and an early start :j :j

Surfacing to wave hello!
Have a lovely jubbley holiday with Mr Cheery! (try not to have quite so much adventure as your last get-away!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: )
Part of today's work at home involves getting a grip on the finances! Payday after all! Looks like we might be able to (mostly) clear one of the debts! Going to take some spreadsheet tweaking to see if it materializes!
Goal is to increase the amount going to savings so a bit of tweaking & a shop from the stores self-challenge in the works!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! (24 OCT 2016)(With heartfelt thanks to those who have gone before us & their indubitable generosity.)...and now I have a mortgage! (23 AUG 2021)New projection - 14 YEARS 10 MONTHS LEFT OF 20 YEARS (reduced by 15 mths)Psst...I may have started a diary!0 -
Thanks ladies! :hello: and hello, and (I was going to say 'welcome back' but it doesn't feel right saying that about myself :rotfl: )
Hope you got that debt paid off RT! :j :j
Well we had a lovely couple of weeks and I would highly recommend changing location mid-holiday if circumstances allow - bit of a faff but feels like we've been away for several months :rotfl:
Mostly cheery holiday altogether - some lovely scenery, cheery cafes, LOTS of reading (goodness I have actually acquired about 30 charity shop books in the last 2 weeks  ) and a teensy tiny bit of squabbling may have occurred too
But overall cheery
Can't say it was a super cheap holiday - the cottages cost us £1000 between them  but other than that we didn't spend tooooo much I don't think. Went to the cinema once (£20  ) and a cafe pretty much every day I think but we didn't eat out in the evening at all. Drove roughly 800 miles altogether, used a tank and a half of diesel (about £65 ish) so not too bad travel-wise.
I tried to keep track of everything in YNAB so I guess the truth will out in a bit when I try to reconcile what the app says with what the bank account and purse say... :rotfl:
On the plus side got LOTS of £2 coins :j :j and Holmfirth co op was pretty good for reduced bread - I'm just slightly miffed that we left a 39p of reduced Mediterranean bread in the freezer compartment at the last cottage :rotfl:0 -
Oh! And almost forgot - when we got to our first cottage there was no bedding or towels  Didn't occur to me to check until 8pm... owner was most apologetic, and said must have been miscommunication with the cleaner (changeover was Saturday, but we'd asked if we could go on Friday instead (as next cottage started following Friday and we didn't want to lose a day) and he said yes. Cleaner said she'd come early next morning.
We managed first night with blankets from the car (glamourous) and cleaner turned up at 9am with towels, but no bedding, and also no logs (which should have been provided). Eventually returned at 6pm, at which point Mr Cheery was having a nap in bed so I ended up having to put the bedding on myself :rotfl:
Owner most apologetic and said he'd sort a refund or a present 'or something' but that was 2 weeks ago and I've come home to no email and no present in the post...
Ah well!0 -
Right - YNAB done.
Bank reconciled perfectly :j :j :j
Cash.... well, cash was £26 out, but over the course of a fortnight it's quite feasible I've spent that in cafes and just not put it in the app
All sorted now - although the rest of the month will be a little bit lean(apart from the fact that we're just waiting for a takeaway, that is...
) :rotfl:
