Glad YNAB is working out for you Cheery. I found it a little complicated to be honest but I've used a similar format and made my own spreadsheet. I keep track for instance - our savings account is looking pretty healthy at the moment. I could, the same as you, go "woohoo! Let's go spend" but I know that so much is for the car tax/MOT/insurance which is all due next month so pretty much at it's highest; so much is Christmas savings, and the rest is the savings for the building work. That way I know how much we have towards each thing and I know I can't spend the savings as they are all busy doing other things :rotfl:Goals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2000

Indeed Starnac
Although I confess I've raided my Christmas savings cmpletely now - somehow hard to think about it in the summer...
Think I might take to transferring a set amount to the Credit Union account at the start of each month - I'd kind of forgotten I had it but walked past it earlier and remembered :rotfl: at least once it's in there it's a bit of a pest to get out again!

Notice I said in my post "Christmas savings" It was originally "present savings" as in all birthday/anniversary/all kind of gifts savings. But I have a present drawer that I fill with bits and bobs I see on sale throughout the year. It's quite easy to stock up on presents for all the parties the kiddies get invited to. Family pretty much get handmade and the in laws get presents using the points on my advantage card :rotfl: so I raided the extra to pay off the last of the loan and am now left with plain old "Christmas savings"

Oh Cheery ((hugs)) i hate those sorts of days where the whole flow and fitting in of life is just out of sync x
Why all the boxes hon? i read your moving but didn't think you'd found somewhere ? or are things being packaged up & then going in the loft / cellar?
I admit to being the same with savings - but think its good i know this so make the decision to move money where i can't get it

Ooh, lovely folks, how did I miss you peeking in there! :hello:
Thanks for the lovely hugglesYou're so lovely
DDFW - yes, we are moving, no, we haven't found anywhere, but yes, everything is going into boxes :rotfl: We have more possessions than you can possibly imagine, and it's impossible to decorate or even get at walls to fix giant holes in them unless some things are boxed up and put out of the way! Mind you, not much of an 'out of the way' yet - cellar's still not properly finished so at the minute millions of boxes are in the kitchen/entrance/living room  Got to turn sideways to get through doorways
Best stop eating quite so many cakes else I'll be marrooned on the front door step at this rate:rotfl:
Things are rather gloomy round here right now. I think we're both feeling a bit shut in by the boxes situation (which WILL pass), the neighbours (who are being mostly pretty good but even so), and we've still not found anywhere to go on holiday (this Friday!  ) Had a run in with boss yesterday too
Ah well, things will seem better after holiday - and if we'd stopped being so darn fussy about the type of place we want we could have booked somewhere last night but it's got to be
(a) detached (I'm not swapping one type of neighbour noise for another on holiday!!)
(b) secluded (not feeling like I'm in a goldfish bowl on holiday as well as at home
(c) under £1000 for a fortnight  (which quite frankly I don't think is an unreasonable request!!)
(d) has a big window to look out of with a nice view(well, we are going on holiday after all..)
Yawn.
Got a group consultation meeting thingy at work today which is good - I have to go and collect someone in a taxi and take them there, but other than that don't have any responsibilities, I'm not presenting, not taking notes, just have to be (a) in the room and (b) awake0 -
Sorry you are both feeling a bit down Cheery. You are right though. It will pass.
:rotfl: at the thought of you marrooned by boxes.
Hope you managed to stay awake during the meeting. Also hope you manage to find somewhere for a holibob soon.Goals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2000 -
I did indeed manage to stay awake :j :j Was quite cheery in the end although I'm blithering worn out now
Had great plans for this evening but, er, I'm worn out and already under a blanket under the sofa:rotfl:
Shelled out over £30 on taxis for work today so need to get that entered into YNAB so I don't forget about it, and I'm not going back into the office til after holidays so I might stick expenses form in the post (but might not - don't want it to get lost!) That's over £80 they owe me now, but it usually comes back pretty quick.
YNAB and banks later, once I can be arsed going into the kitchen to find my purse and all the receipts :rotfl:0 -
I was just about to say "£80?? Wow thats a lot" then realised, actually I need to put receipts in for my own expenses that total that much too!!
Best get onto that!Goals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2000 -
Just nipped out to a lunchtime Body Blast class  Actually, it wasn't as bad as it sounds - the worse thing was the smell from the Cadbury's factory next to the gym  :rotfl: :rotfl:
Nipped to supermarket on way home for a couple of bits but just as I got to the til the fire alarm went off and we all had to troop outside. Couldn't see a fire but these things are never quick so I landed up at the local shop instead and am now tucking into reduced (to 75p) camembert and baguette:rotfl:
