I'd have thought Amnesty International had better things to do than comment on this sort of incident

Indeed. If the play was mocking gays, say, whose side would they be on then? Why are Christians not given more respect?

I heard one of the "blasphemous" jokes on the radio this morning - "there were computers in the garden of eden - Adam gave Eve an Apple".

I'm sure you realise there's much worse than that in it.

If the play should be banned it should be banned because it is offensive to a group of people. That is political reasoning. That is what we pay our politicians for.

It's offensive to Bible-believing Christians. Are they not a group of people?

Would it be allowed if it mocked Nelson Mandela, Princess Diana or Mother Theresa instead of Jesus? I don't think so.

Exactly... They are all as bad as each-other.... do as I say, not as I do!!

But again..... blurring the lines, as we are so good at in Northern Ireland, between Politics and religion ..

Speaking of which, what do you think of those who banned that merry little ditty, Blurred Lines?

Laughing stock, medieval, puritanical, zealots, bigots...etc?

Just heard Maggie May by Rod Stewart on the radio. There is a definite hint of !!!!!philia in the words - Maggie May seems to be some oul wan who's exploiting an under age boy.

Down with this sort of thing.

Did you notice each one of those names ends with the same vowel?

    I feel a song ... coming on.

PM me and we'll get a hit out of this. Unless we get banned by bigots of course.

I dont see it as a matter of lack of respect, but wheres the "right" of one or two christian DUP councillors to enforce their religious viewpoint on the rest of us?

If there had been uproar on the streets and they banned it as it was offensive then fair enough, but a couple of councillors thinking there are people blaspheming in it?

Can you not see how cringeworthy that is?

Thats fine then. If lots of people were offended by the very notion of this play being put on then by all means ban it for offending a significant section of the community.

    But "blaspheming"? Really?

Plenty of comedians poke fun at plenty of public figures.

Again, if someone wants to go and see this play whats it to you? Why should you or a DUP councillor have the "right" to enforce what people go to see? No ones forcing it down your throat. No ones making you sit through it. There has been no mass public uproar? So whats the issue?

Is your religion and religious beliefs that fragile that it cant cope with some people seeing a play of their own freewill in some small town somewhere, because it might "offend" someones beliefs who isnt even there?
