I heard one of the "blasphemous" jokes on the radio this morning - "there were computers in the garden of eden - Adam gave Eve an Apple".0 -

It will also have the positive impact of substantively reducing your demographic so that in a generation or two we can reclaim this country, seize your infant descendants, and propagate to them whatever the hell we like.
Up King William.
Are you possibly on said "drugs, drink, and dope"?????0 -

Thats fine.
You're separating banning it for being offensive from a religious viewpoint.
These politicians are representing the whole community - not just christians.
If it was a muslim council banning it because it was blasphemous there would be just as much outcry - if not more. An elected group needs to represent its constituents not a particular religious faction.
If it was offensive to Allah, someone would be getting their head removed. The ratepayers subsidizing the theatre are entitled to some sensitivity. Newtownabbey has a unionist controlled council. It wouldn't be fair to Catholic ratepayers if they allowed a show slagging off catholicism to be performed on council-owned property. So why one to upset those ratepayers who happen to believe the bible? I happen to think these councillors are right, whether it's for the wrong reason or not. Perhaps they are representing their own faction in a slightly hysterical fashion, but it's either that or annoy the constituents.

I think there is a lot of nonsense being spoken in this thread, however the angle as to whether "pointed" humour would be used against other religions other than Christianity has some merit to it.0

I heard it was a Samsung S4 but a last minute intervention from the Angel Steve Jobs made sure common sense prevailed :rotfl:

How many actually complained I'd like to know.... 5, 6.... 10 ???? hardly representative of the "Whole Community" if so... had it been 100's or 1000's I wouldn't have had a problem with the decisionqwert_yuiop wrote: ».....The ratepayers subsidizing the theatre are entitled to some sensitivity...
Unionist councillors are pretty good at it in the council offices which I believe are "council-owned property" one rule for one... one for another !!qwert_yuiop wrote: »...It wouldn't be fair to Catholic ratepayers if they allowed a show slagging off catholicism to be performed on council-owned property.....
Exactly what it was.........., now all they have done is make more people curious about the play, make it even more popular (apparently as stated previously only 150 out of 800 tickets had been sold prior to this fiasco) and make themselves look like Muppets in the processqwert_yuiop wrote: »......Probably a lot of fuss about very little.I think there is a lot of nonsense being spoken in this thread, however the angle as to whether "pointed" humour would be used against other religions other than Christianity has some merit to it.
Have you been to any comedy shows recently.... everyone gets the ar.$e ripped out of them. religion, politics. you name it.... There's always someone will get offended.... it's not like the play is preaching hatred and calling a certain faiths leader the anti-Christ like some of the councils past party members have been on record doing0 -

I never hear anyone brave enough to make a laugh of Islam.
Although I hear 2 jihadi girls were trying on new clothes - "Does my bomb look big in this?"
Suicide bombers - just what is it that makes these people tick?“What means that trump?” Timon of Athens by William Shakespeare0
