    Hi peeps

    how we all doing?

I am only £3 from £50 cash out which makes it £70 since May, an ok amount. The trouble I find is the miles given have now gone down, I cant remember the last time I did a 600 or 300 review. I might need to take a look see whats there
    :money::rotfl::T
  • Im around the 10 pound mark and finding it hard to motivate myself to write new reviews. Its a shame as I was so enthusiastic when I first found this site. Seems everything I have to review is only 100 miles and it seems to take ages to get anywhere.

Need to find a couple of 600 review items to boost my flagging enthusiasm.
    Make £10 a Day Feb .....£75.... March... £65......April...£90.....May £20.....June £35.......July £60
  • Signed up to Dooyoo today - read about it on here and thought I'd give it a go.

But I'm not sure it's for me - had a look at a crowned review that seems to be some description about the history of the manufacturer (ie, this item was first thought of in 1924 in Outer Mongolia) and some bland descriptive stuff about the item often being packaged one way compared to how it was packaged 50 years ago.

I was trying to write from a perspective of information I would find useful if I was thinking of buying the product. However, when I reviewed a washing machine I got the comment that I should have included a load of information that is available on the manufacturer's run down of the features of the product.

I get the impression that either approach is simply to fill space? So then I wrote one that, I must admit, was just daft, but filled a load of space and I got a suggestion of looking at some highly rated reviews so I would know what was expected.

I feel a bit like I'm back at school and my homework getting a 'could try harder' comment from the teacher!

Maybe I'm just not in the right frame of mind for it

Smiley hope you don't mind I've had a read of the three you've showing in the list at the moment.

The stuff about your mate/the dog in the coffee machine review is longer than the paragraphs about the machine itself! I'd want to know the cost of the machine, rough cost of pods, how much water does the tank take, how long does it take to make a drink in it, is it easy to assemble/disassemble to clean, you mention it doesnt take much space but give me something to compare it to - your 'not much space' might be alot of space in my kitchen for example.

The comment left on the washing machine review looks about right to me, the idea is that after reading the review the reader has enough information to go out and make a purchase without needing to refer back to the manufacturer.

Same for the cubes - frankly until half way through the review I wouldnt know what it was for - tell me up front what you're reviewing and why. What size are the cubes, how many fit in a typical size suitcase and how much can you fit in each one. Again how much did you pay, was it good value, is it worth looking for deals on them, would you buy again.

The rest should be how it works for you, but work in the boring manufacturers specs, but tell the reader how each aspect works out here in the real world as some things manufacturers put in the specs sound awesome but are actually utterly useless.

For me I actually really like the 'tone' of your writing in the coffee machine review much better than the other two, makes it easier to see that you're a real person, but theres just not enough of the information I'd need to consider a purchase. However I will repeat the advice about reading higher rated reviews as if reviews aren't up to scratch they get locked and you don't earn the miles from them.

Aside from anything else reading and rating other peoples reviews will gain you return rates as especially for newbies more established writers won't always bother until you've shown that you're willing to get involved in the community aspect of it instead of just being there to make money.
It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

  • Thanks for having a look - and for your feedback.

I kind of experimented a bit by the time I got to the coffee machine review - OK, I'd read a few other reviews and was being a bit (OK - a lot!) flippant :-).

Your feedback is useful - I don't think it is going to be something I'd be good at - maybe I won't be a review millionaire by Christmas then :-)

Bang away at it for a while and gradually you'll get into the swing of it. My own first few reviews when I first joined Dooyoo were worse than pitiful, then I went overboard the other way, making them longer and more unnecessarily convoluted than War & Peace. It actually did take me quite a long time to settle properly into my own now very definite style.....but it's been worth it.
  • I got back in to both DooYoo and Ciao last month. Started by moving over all the reviews I had on Ciao that I didn't have on DooYoo (when I was originally on it DooYoo had far fewer products and Ciao has a lower payout threshold so I spent more time on there) and then wrote some new ones.

I got 2 crowns in one week, which was very nice, but they seem to have dropped off suddenly in the last 2 weeks. I've had two reviews which have got a lot of positive reviews and comments from people that they're nominating me, but some how they're either not up to scratch, or DY hasn't given many out :( Currently up to just over 6700, can't see myself getting anywhere near the 20k mark if it carries on like this, let alone 50k.

I also used to get a bit extra from Ciao's premium fund back in the day, I don't think they've awarded the PF for this month yet though. Again, my reviews have been rated quite highly so I'd hope I get a bit extra rather than the 33 pence I've earned so far :(

    Oh well, onwards and upwards.
  • Dooyoo has become a bit of a plod, but I still carry on as although slower than used to be, the £50 cashout is still achievable. As for Ciao, what I like about it is there being peanuts in my account, then suddenly at that time of the month, it leaping up overnight due to the issuing of the premium fund.....that should be due in a couple of days' time....I think it's usually in our accounts on the 15th of every month.

I felt like that too when I started but looking back on my first reviews I can see there was plenty of room for improvement and the comments (for the most part) were offered in a friendly and helpful manner. I jumped in without reading enough reviews first. There's lots of good advice on here too. Keep with it - it's a good community when you get into the swing of things.

Smiley - Ive looked at your reviews and I don't think their is enough details about important things like, cost, if the products are efficient, proper sizing etc. You should start off doing more "easy" items like food, drink, toiletries etc or even top tips kind of thing as these dont need as much detail as electricals but still a good depth to it. Spend a few days reading through crowned reviews to have an idea of what they write about, they are incredibly well detailed and thought out. Good Luck on your DY path
