  • Sorted washing machine to a certain degree, I've had to sign up to D&G at £13 a month. :( This means I can get my washing machine repaired and it will be covered for any further breakdowns. It would have cost £130 labour and the part was free as it was still under 5 years warranty. It does mean that I'm paying out £13 a month and I've been with D&G before and used them a lot as my washing machine and tumble dryer are used everyday. I will call in a few weeks and get my tumble dryer added included in the price.

So am I in denial or was that good decision :-( still deciding.

  • Morning!

I think it sounds a good idea if you're using your machine as much as you say. Works out at only £26 for the part and I doubt that would've been the case.

    Have a good day xx

  • Morning all,

I thought originally I could clear all debt by just cutting back but from April my household income will reduce for three reasons, 1) I will start to get taxed if not before, 2) WFTC will stop due to hubby's pay rise I think, 3) student loan will start to come out my wages. So I want to reduce my debt as much as possible by then. The only silver lining is by April I will be able to do more overtime.

So I'm going to try and boost my income. I already do occasional car boot sales and because I've been on a minimalist living challenge for the past 9 months I don't think have a lot to sell. When I get home later I will go through every room and dig deep to find things to sell, the kids are away this week so I can have good rummage with no tears.

So here goes my aim is to clear my CC all £1,910 of it by 1st April anyway I can. I have 3 family birthdays in March but I have savings for these now so for the first time it's covered :-)

I've got to go to my sisters shortly to do my hair and use her washing machine. Cheaper than a launderette (I will offer to babysit in return though).

    Have a great day!

  • Hi Muser1:wave: welcome,

I managed to get a few wash loads done at my sister's today and my hair washed and trimmed. Saved me a few ££'s no hairdresser and no laundrette. My sister also got her hair done so win win.

Okay so my stupid plan have changed it slightly:

I currently spend £325 on debt, £200 a month on cc which is an overpay but always pay that set amount. Then £125 on student bursary. This totals the same amount I was paying for my car per month £350. ish. So with my monthly income reducing in April and me needing to replace my car ASAP. I'm going to clear as much of my debt by then that way my outgoings will remain the same but the debt will be gone but car payments will replace the debt.

I'm aware that car payments will be debt however I need a car :-) and I liked the one I had:rotfl: so five weeks (this is insane) :

    The figures

    I'm currently overpaying £84 a week = £420
    DH owes me £200 =£200
My DH pays me £20 a week towards car insurance which isn't included in my budget so that's another £100
    CB = £150
I was paying LW £200 per month now that's finished I can put this towards CC = £400

I'm not including the £200 per month I usually pay as this covers minimum payment and the interest, any remaining it covers is a bonus.

So a total of £1270 I can throw at the remaining balance of £1910.

So I need to find £640 in 40 days!! That's £16 per day for CC.

Then there is £992 left owing to student bursary. I pay £124 a month so two payments by the 1st April =£248 off the total left owing.

I need to find £744 I actually Pmsl at this amount:rotfl: in fact I will do it again :rotfl: that's £19 per day.

So in total I've got to raise £35 a day from somewhere for my ridiculous unrealistic plan to work and because I'm crazy and don't follow logic I'm going try......aarrrgh. I'm scared lol.

I know I won't clear all the debt but if I can clear as much of it as possible I will be ecstatic. Then I can focus on clearing the car finance quicker but one challenge at a time.

Every day I will make a to do list on things I will do to achieve this target. Reading NinjaKats diary has inspired me to do this challenge although I'm sure it had more logic than mine.

Things to do list will be up in the morning...

That is quite some plan you have there. With your determination,I am sure you will come up with something.
I don't really have any suggestions except:
-is your council tax accounted for?I mean,in your original SOA,you said you pay £130-ish in council tax.Do you have a "payment holiday" for Feb-Mar,or do you pay it over 12 month? If you have a payment holiday, is that "saved" money already accounted for?It would be a brilliant  to realise you have an extra £130-ish per month lying around that you had forgotten about, that you could pay off debt with :T.
You really are working very hard.Well done, and don't let it all get you down x.
