but you are saying it was posted ASAP?
So what has the seller done wrong in that case?

    What does dispatched mean?

Posted or will be posted some time in the future?

The fact a seller could receive payment and mark it as dispatched then dispatch it 7 days later and still get 5* is a flawed system is it not?

Well, what does it say on the postage label?? If it was posted on day one and received on day ten that is not the sellers fault.

If it wasn't posted until seven days after, then and only then is when the neutrals and negatives you're threatening can start being considered.

It wasn't posted for seven days which was why I asked the original question. For some reason you and others have jumped in and accused me of being unfair in my treatment of the seller.

Perhaps people would have answered differently had you included that salient point.
  • Sellers are sometimes given automatic five stars for p&p and communication, but not for dispatch time, as far as I know.

My question was answered in #2 so that information wasn't really needed was it?

Just goes to show that this is a sellers forum. Maybe those who don't wish me to buy from them should post their eBay user name so that I can avoid them.

    Really.
So you answered in post 3 thats all the info you needed?
No you let people waste their time without giving the information that adds context to your post.
hence my post asking a question.

Other than trying to give it the big one, I don't know what you contribution was.

Care to explain what you mean by funky bunch? Like you said the comment is lost on me so I guess it's an insult.

Sellers mark the items as dispatched within a day so as to get 5* for dispatch. It's not right if they've not been posted or are not going to posted (without a doubt) the next day. Edit to add, it's not automatic 5*, they do it to hope the buyer goes by when they're told it's dispatched rather than when they actually do so.

Sellers can also get automatic 5* for communication if they don't send the buyer any messages. So even if there is a problem they may feel getting the 5* outweighs whatever the buyer will do if annoyed when things don't go smoothly and therefore they don't bother to send messages.

Sellers can also get automatic 5* on postage by offering free postage.

All the information on getting an automatic 5* can be found here: http://sellercentre.ebay.co.uk/automatic-5-star-detailed-seller-ratings

It's not always fair that the sellers get the 5* but there's nothing to stop you marking down on description and leaving neutral/negative feedback. Sadly some sellers aren't good but they know how to get around the system. Overtime low stars on other options and the negative ratings will put an end to them selling anyway.

I did suggest I may do that to warn other buyers and now some wouldn't want to trade with me. Obviously got something to hide, maybe they're playing the system too.

Thanks for your informative and unbiased response, shame others couldn't have responded in the same way.
