I did provide the correct address but have no control over a post office that's open at 1930 on a Saturday have I?

So it [STRIKE]weren't [/STRIKE] wasn't going to be with Royal Mail until at least 0900 Monday.

So given you know that, what's the issue?

The fact you can't mark them down and they can play the system. 10 days for first class shouldn't get five stars for speed of delivery.

I've had items take 10 days and longer to reach their recipient - I posted the day after payment was made. Nothing I can do about it.

The star is awarded for speed of dispatch, not speed of delivery. Speed of dispatch is the only factor in control of the seller. But don't let that get in the way of your vendetta.
  • I am guilty of marking an item as despatched the night before it goes. As I sell quite a lot of items, it's the only way I can keep track of what I have packed.

There was obviously a delay in mail due to the volume over the Christmas / New Year period, but thankfully, none of my buyers hit my stars. However, eight filed INR far too quickly and got refunded :(
You're only young once, but you can be immature forever :D

  • Reading the above has raised a question in my mind. I always thought it was up to the buyer to decide which stars to give. I know if it's freepost they can't give a star for postage cost, but I thought they could decide on the others.

The thing is, I tend to post the item the day after I get payment, and then mark as despatched and send the buyer a courtesy email to let them know AFTER I've actually posted it. If I'm out at work that day, or have other things going on, there are times I've posted an item and not actually marked it as despatched until the next day, sometimes even the day after that because I've just not had time to sit down at the computer. So does that mean I could post the day after payment and still get marked down just because I hadn't marked the item as despatched?

Perhaps naively I thought that marking the item as despatched was purely for my own records!

but you are saying it was posted ASAP?
So what has the seller done wrong in that case?

The problem is the star system. It doesn't take much to hurt a seller big time, so it's basically flawed. They should remove or update the system.

Sorry, I'm not quite sure what you mean?? Yes I sometimes buy on ebay and I leave feedback as appropriate.

However, I'm also selling off a few things and I'm asking if I am damaging my seller stars by not actually marking an item as despatched until a day or two after I've posted it?
