DD is really gripey this afternoon. Nothing I do seems to make her happy, and she has been doing funny smelling poo's the last day or so. It might be the onset of teething I guess, but she certainly isn't happy.

How is your little one now? Was she coming down with something or just plain grumpy? Kids do that, yawn.

    Any teeth appear?

  • I think she was just being a 5 month old! Although she is gnawing on her hands a lot and drooling so I suspect teeth are the cause.

She has also started waking every couple of hours again in the night for feeding, so maybe a growth spurt?

And if it isn't her howling in the middle of the night it's the 3 year old..sigh.

Check out the "wonder weeks" website, MV. It's spookily accurate on growth and development spurts.

DD has been seriously pushing boundaries today. Have just sent her out swimming with DH so I can have a cuppa and a scream in peace. :)

  • Haven't posted before but just had to say thank you for this and making me realise I'm not the only one who thinks there doing a rubbish job.

I have two boys 2.5 years and 4 months, husband is in military and we moved to a new posting when youngest was 5 weeks old, oldest has some additional needs (only just learnt to walk and never spoken a proper word just baby talk) and no one can tell us the cause of it all.
Since moving have been finding it so hard to get out with them both, hate being the new person at different playgroups i force myself to go to, feel like everyones watching me (especially as oldests differences are starting to become more noticeable as he gets older). This isn't the first time we've been somewhere new like this but found it much easier to make friends before. I think its just harder with two as theres always one of them that needs seeing too, I don't feel theres time to sit and chat and make friends.
Now 3 hours from any family, husband is going to be away a lot this year, starting with 9 weeks in Cyprus soon. Am not looking forward to it, will most likely be exhausted doing everything myself.

Anyway thats my moan, we watch wayyy too much ceebeebies and i'm guilty of posting all the nice photos on Facebook with the boys smiling sat in a clean tidy house (only because i pushed all the mess out of the background).
I'm sure everyone on here is doing a brilliant job
  • Absolutely nothing wrong with kids watching cbeebies!!! My grandaughter has learnt loads from mr tumble, number jacks etc!! Don't be so hard on yourself, you sound like a loving, caring mum. Bringing up kids is hard, I've had 3. My youngest came along after an 11 year gap:eek:

  • I've enjoyed reading this thread today, I'm having rather a bad week, lo is up and down every day, it's so rubbish outside that I can't even go for a walk and I feel like I can't think of anything to do with my 10 month old rather than let him play. He's not walking but crawls so fast over to the parts of the room that he shouldn't touch. I feel like all I do is pull him away minute after minute. :(

IME on the world of internet lots of people like to portray the 'super mum' image where every single meal is organic angel food handmade from scratch, TV is banned, there are daily learning trips out each day, with the rest of the day spent reading, drawing pictures, baking cookies and making Lego statues. All whilst keeping the house in pristine condition.

Whilst most decent parents do most of these activities some of the time, the truth is most normal parents also have days where their child is fed beans on for dinner and amused by the television for the best part of the day.
  • this thread has made me feel more normal and less of a failure when it comes to having the perfectly clean home, no pots in the sink, DD having a perfectly proportioned meal, homework done, bathed and bed in good time!

Thank you for this thread x

  • I'm off on a work trip today for 2 nights to Paris. I'm leaving OH in charge of the kids.

Am I being totally un-maternal when I say I am really looking forward to it...?
