Yes I reckon it has the light but not the switch!
Ford 5 Door Hatchback Fiesta Finesse 1.3 from 1998 (S Reg)
She's silver and she's called "Bo" :P
A previous owner made a hash of replacing the stereo and I think they took the rear fog light switch away. I'll have to check the manual to see where it's meant to be but I'm pretty sure there's a patched up hole in it's place ;DHi. I make this suggestion everytime my sister asks me about her car, and what the mechanic meant. Her house is full of reference books, historical, or gardening, or places she is thinking about visiting, and 100's of recipe books.
Not one single book about a car, not the haynes manual. The operating manual is in the glove box, but she's never even opened it.
I suggested she invested in a haynes maual, not because I think she's ever going to pick up a spanner, but just so that when the mechanic says, "I think you need a new clutch and gearbox and that means you'll need a new front bumper, and whilst I'm at it I've charged you £157 for replacing an indicator bulb" she can turn round and know what he is talking about.
She actually phoned me up to ask what tyre pressures were. Not the setting, but what they were. This woman has a phd, in a science subject, so I bought her a tyre pressure gauge for christmas.0 -
I took one of my cars to the same place every year and 3 years running I had the same tester, and he had 3 different advisory lists. I hadn't bothered to fix the previous one's so god knows what planet he's on.0

As the Fiesta is post April 1980, it needs a working rear fog light in the correct position. If it's not there, or it doesn't work because someone has removed the switch, it's still a fail.0

Movement is undesirable because its holding your wheels on and it helps to steer if the wheels are not wobbling all over the place.
Having a wheel drop off is inconvenient at best. Get this sorted before the next MOT. When is the service due? Draw their attention to it and the foglight.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I highly doubt that the possibility of a wheel falling off would only be an advisory...Hi. I'm a Board Guide on the Gaming, Consumer Rights, Ebay and Praise/Vent boards. Thats because there is no play in the part YET!!! Its not going to get any better.
Ive known several people have balljoints fail shortly after passing an MOT. If there is no play then it wont fail. And the wheels do drop off when they go.
The MOT just shows the car met certain requirements on that day. It could explode in a shower of sparks tomorrow.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
your going to need a new wishbone sometime before your next mot.Chickabiddybex wrote: »Can someone please tell me what these mean? They're advisories from my MOT and I'd like to know what they are for future reference.
Nearside suspension arm rubber bush deteriorated but not resulting in excessive movement.
Offside front Macpherson strut has slight movement at the upper attachment.
Rear fog light switch poor
im guessing the car is a vhaxhall as they always have movement in the upper attachment, shouldt be an advisory as there is no movement when the strut is loaded.
rear fog light switch poor? thats a new one it is either on or off, try adding some bling?0 -
a ball joint advisory will fail next mot befor it falls off. unless its a taxi doing mega mileage but then that advisory will be a straight fail in a taxi test.forgotmyname wrote: »Thats because there is no play in the part YET!!! Its not going to get any better.

Besides which, the advisories were for a rubber bush and an upper strut mount, not a balljoint.
They need to be watched, but both of those can happily go on for years without getting worse, even assuming (as red eye pointed out) there's actually anything wrong with the strut mount - quite a few cars will show play there when the suspension's unloaded, even fresh from the factory.0
