  • Hey hon

The interview went well and I got the job :) It's only about 8 hours a week atm but could grow to be more. To be honest it's perfect as it fits in around all my other bits and pieces that I do and, most importantly, Littley. I worked out how much extra a month I'd like to earn - or rather need to earn to have a good pot to spend next year - and if this stays at 8hrs a week I'll have plenty enough. Any extra is a bonus, well tbh the whole thing is a bonus! I saw 8 magpies just as I went in and didn't know what it meant so I greeted and saluted the first, made a wish, said the rhyme and felt like spinning around in a circle 3 times on one foot but wasn't sure if that was right! lol

Right, I'm off to bed. Nowt to stay up for now Jimbo's gone :(

Have a good day tomorrow :) xx

I am so pleased for you Sassy. Regular work that you can rely upon which fits in around other commitments is fantastic.

Your tale about the magpies made me laugh! It conjured up a picture of you skipping about and spinning on one leg, like the heroine in a Disney movie. I think that noticing these things makes life a joyous adventure. The number 8 is turning out to be good for both of us :)x

  • How's the challenge going? 5/5 days so far for me, and I am really starting to feel my abs burning:eek:.

When do you start your new job? I looked up the rhyme and 8 magpies is for heaven. Just be glad you never saw ten .

OMG, I can't believe 8 magpies is for heaven. My grandmother has been in hospital for the last few weeks and on Tuesday we were all called up there urgently. She is in a very bad way and on Wednesday all life support was removed and she is now on End of Life Palliative Care. The fact I saw 8 magpies the day before and it means heaven is so freaky it's unreal.

My mum and aunt have been at the hospital since Tuesday as we were told grandmother had hours left. However the stubborn old !!!!!! is taking her time! I've been up there for a lot of that time too as I feel Mum & Aunt need my support. The hard thing is I've now said goodbye to my grandmother 3 times and I just can't do it any more. I took Littley up to say goodbye on Wed night which took a lot of deciding but she handled it fantastically and is doing so well. I'm very proud of her.

Needless to say I've not done anything for Operation Wetsuit and sadly have had to cancel around £100 of work - although a few have said we can reschedule so that's something.

I'm now going back up there as I want to pick Littley up from school. I wasn't able to for a couple of days and my rock of a mate had her for me but she was very upset about it and is a little clingy so obviously wants her mum.

Sorry I couldn't share any other good news today. Have a great weekend everyone :) xx

  • Dear Sassy, what a difficult, heart wrenching time for you all.

Keep that thought about the magpies in your head and loving memories of your grandmother in your heart and I am sure her spirit will always be there for you when you need protection and comfort x.

  • Sadly my grandmother passed away on Friday. It seems she chose to go as soon as everywhere was shut so we could all have the weekend to gather ourselves before the dreaded chore of sorting out the official stuff. Ever thoughtful until the end.

We went to her house today to sort a few things and bring a few things home and Littley has made a "reflective corner" with a photo of Grandma, some bits and pieces she had bought for her and a few things she had brought home. She's still being incredibly sensitive to everyone else's needs as well as her own and I don't think I could have at such a young age.

I found out that she's left me some money in her will which is lovely of her. I shall be putting some of it towards our trip and will have a special treat for her.

Anyway! Onwards and upwards as they say. Tomorrow I'm going to get in touch with the cancelled work and try to rearrange it for this week. It wasn't until I cancelled it that I realised quite how much I was doing and how much extra I was earning.

I've not put any money aside for savings either as I just haven't done much all week. I've been paying bills and keeping an eye on things but have spent a lot more than normal last week - and yet still have no food in the house!!

    Operation Wetsuit

Funnily enough I've not done anything for Operation Wetsuit but have decided that I am going to start afresh tomorrow and do Days 1 & 2 of the squat & abs challenge on day one, days 3 & 4 on day 2 and continue until I've caught up so next Monday I'll be back to day 15. I'll do one set in the morning and one in the afternoon so it won't be so bad!

    This week's challenge

I don't usually do challenges but I'm concerned I've got out of a habit with things so this week I am setting myself the following challenges:

    1) Rearrange all work cancelled last week
    2) Book 2 mystery shops
    3) Update figures of debt & savings
    4) Start Operation Wetsuit & do double stints
    5) Wrap Christmas presents & send cards

Have a good week everyone :) xx

  • Thinking of you Sassy x. Your DD is amazing. What a mature and sensitive idea to have a "reflective corner" in remembrance of Grandma.

  • Just checked in for the first time in a while! *wave*

So sorry to hear about your grandmother.. but at least she's now at peace and no longer suffering. You seem to be dealing well, which is good. I guess you were expecting it for a while?

Sounds like you're doing amazingly! :j

Hope you and Littley are both well and getting excited for Christmas!

We moved into our new house this weekend - very hectic, but *very* exciting. We absolutely love it. I'm in the process of sorting out all bills and changing direct debits etc. to our new joint account. It's hard work!

I need to get back into the habit of posting here regularly- once house finances are in order I can get back on to knuckling down to clear the credit card! xx
