So if you have an IP address xxx.xx.x.x. one week it may well change to yyy.yy.y.y the next week, how does that happen?

I thought your personal PC's IP address always remained the same. What if you have a few PCs in the house does each have a different IP address even though they're all using the same router.

    Very confusing.:o

I think it's only the last few digits that change.

It depends on the IP provider, but for example if you turn off your router it can allocate a new IP when you switch it back on again.

I know with many providers their systems reallocate IP addresses every so many days or months.

That aside you can hide your IP by using a proxy it's basic stuff to a Troll.

It's too time consuming to police and often trolls don't actually break the rules, they just irritate the regulars who take the bite and they are often the ones who then break the rules. Trolls flame, but it's a thin line between that and actually expressing a real opinion that happens to differ from the majority.

My favourite troll of all time has to be Scott Nelson of Radio 2 Message Boards, google him :) mind you he never denied he was a troll.

The reason the BBC closed their message boards is because they got so expensive and resource hungry primarily with complaints about trolls and in fighting. So bear that in mind :)

  • All this talk about IP addresses, and how you can disguise them, seems very complicated. I used to have imaginary friends as a child, but to me, they were very real.

This is very common with young children, similar to when they have conversations with their dolls and teddies. But I suppose some people don't grow out of this phase and AEs is an adult way of continuing the imagination.

Though I must confess to having long, deep and meaningful conversations with my dog .......................... ;)

I don't really care if people talk to the fairies or their imaginary (only???) friends, although they must have a screw loose - but it is wearing to give advice, and then realise that they are just trying to start a row about benefits...

Loosing PPR? How can you loose it? :)

You mean they have been PPR'd? And are back in another log in?
