Stealing gas and electricity

I have been in court a few times, but only with certain casesDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

The suppliers don't bother chasing the theft as the total amount of recoveries probably does not cover the total costs of investigating and recovering, it is just another drain on the bottom line, it is the same with shoplifting.0

The thieves swap round suppliers which presumably masks the real cost, and makes it difficult to identify anomalous readings, shouldn't these firms be cooperating?
What annoys me is that it wasn't clear if the 'fines' only covered what they had used. Surely it's worth the thieves 'having a go' if that's the case? Did you hear the guy who asked for a rebate?
If they are advertising services for fiddling meters, surely it's a straightforward case of ringing the criminals up?
It should be possible to identify most large users such as cannabis growers through thermal imaging.0 -

Suppliers do share information, if caught the info would be passed on as the dno / network will be the same for that area. Also the reason behind a lot is that we have a toothless regulator that takes the sides of the thief when caught and a supplier wont reconnectDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. It worried me when they said that people have been tapping into their neighbour's electricity, and you don't know they're doing it.
I was shocked when a shop owner had been found out, and when they estimated how much he would have to pay back, he asked them if he could have a discount! :rotfl:

That's a bit rich coming from you who is constantly moaning about meter fiddling and then 'anti-frackers'. I can agree with you that something should be done about fiddling, perhaps you'd be polite enough to accept that I have a valid point about fracking.
We've seen how big companies will take short cuts where they can, thank you for pointing out something we all know, and you've already admitted smart meters as planned aren't the answer...0 -
Who actually pays for unmetered use, is it just put down to system losses and the cost gets put onto the wholesale unit price and passed down to those users that do pay ?0

Its revenue leakage , and the distibutor looses out which then impacts high wholesale as you sayDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0 -

a lot of major shops do prosecute without fail, even if they lose out in the costs but the thieves know this and these stores will get less shoplifting, in other words theres a deterrent to crime. No deterrents leads to more and more theft0 -
Before we get all out of shape, let's not forget that transmissions loses in the national grid and local distribution network is about 10% of generated power, all going to heat up the air.0
