Sarah - your comparison to your job is rather false - you get paid to do that. I've invested literally hundreds of hours on forum and off forum here to assist people as have all the regulars ( not sure what makes you a regular though ? ). In fact what I've done is minute compared to people like Coupon Mad, KIL and Daisy ( other than regularly get banned from various web sites which I think I might hold the record for ! ). For these reasons you shouldn't take a bit of snappyness too seriously - it's because some days, answering the same questions that have the same answers over and over again can get ..... well ..... tiring. This is even more frustrating when the Newbie thread ( kindly written by Coupon Mad ) contains 99.9% of answers to all situations - people just don't read things properly nowadays, they just want direct specific answers rather than putting in any thought to the process themselves - I blame Thatcher, computer games and global warming :p. This isn't aimed at you personally. Do you have children ? If you do just imagine the "Are we there yet ?" question a hundred times a day !!!!

Bob / Ian - I share your frustration but a dignified retreat might be in order here ;)

Just because we get paid to do a job doesn't mean we have to be polite, kind, courteous, considerate, and friendly while we are there, and turn it off at home time. It takes little effort to be kind to people and their feelings... but yet it can mean the difference between someone getting upset and someone leaving happy. I don't just do it for the sales. That would be insane and a no brainer!

I have a child, i am more than used to repetition. it's all learning isn't it.

I wasn't expecting anyone to do anything for me... I am quite capable of doing things myself, but i needed to know if i was going about it in the right way. as i had appealed incorrectly in the first instance, on reading the newbie section and checking out (wrongly i found out) other pages on the forum.. i couldn't see anything that pertained to what i had done, and i was just looking for a little assurance that it was still worth me persuing in the same manner as the newbie section stated.. now in my panic, i did miss a couple of things and i did make a few mistakes, all of which were pointed out, i corrected, and that was dealt with. People like Coupon mad had and have been extremely helpful and i am very grateful for the help and pointers, my issue is that whether or not we are annoyed or having a bad day.. if you have nothing good to say, don't say anything... damning critique isn't helpful to anyone, it's just hurtful and unnecessary.

I understand also the frustration when people are asking similar questions.

People can be very harsh when they are not face to face with someone and the internet is breeding ground for bullies and trolls. the anonymous nature of the internet gives people a platform to speak their mind, and show their true colours.

i'm usually a light hearted, easy going gal, and it takes a lot to upset me... but the repeated negativity of some, and hurtful comments, i had just had enough... I'm not going to just sit there and take it. I wouldn't expect anyone to.

This is the last posting i will make on this topic. awful as it may seem, with some of the responses i had, i kinda wish I hadn't even asked and just paid the money. The whole thing has been one big headache of stress, which has left me utterly deflated and sad with the world.

Aww sorry to hear that. Hope you've picked up enough info to win the case though.

  • @Sarah - I've just re-read the whole thread for about the third time now.

Please don't take what I am about to say the wrong way as it is not meant to hurt and upset you any further but I think that you may be over reacting just a little here and being a little too sensitive.
(as women can do at certain times of the month perhaps? - and before you have a go here - I'm female too!)

Having read Bod's earlier post which you apparently took great exception over - I cannot see why you felt so aggrieved at this. His comment was designed to give constuctive feedback and not to cause any offence - unlike it has to be said some of the comments you made against him.

What you need to realise is that Parking Eye do not do compassion or excuses or mitigating circumstances like your son was sick. They are a ruthless company who will puruse you to court if they can to try and extract money from you.

We want to help you by avoiding any of this - but you need to listen and take note of what advice you are given by everyone - including any perceived "negative" comments - these are only made to improve what you write to get this parking charge quashed once and for all.

All is not lost by identifying yourself as a driver early on - you can still win at POPLA - it just means that points regarding Keeper liability and POFA cannot be included. Doesn't really matter for Parking Eye as you will a POPLA appeal on no GPEOL or lack of conrtact authority, signage issues or ANPR timings and grace period.

Please do not give up on this - follow it through to POPLA - read some appeals and you are more than welcome to post up your appeal before submitting - though don't take any criticism to change or alter the wording personally.

    Good luck.

Seems no one is going to win in all this ............ other than PE :(

    Sarah -
I was going to say something like this (though as a bloke there's one bit I wouldn't have dared to include!) but 4consumerrights has put it well enough.

This forum isn't mumsnet - it's about saving money and specifically helping people win against unwarranted parking charges.
Would you rather have loads of empathy or the means to beat the parasites that are Parking Eye? Better to have your appeals tested and criticised here than failing at POPLA and having all the stress of a court claim.
Stick with it - you are two letters away from getting rid of this problem.

you will see from this thread https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4802567 what we are up against , note the CCJ against the disabled pensioner

To be fair, we (there is no we) have had that set aside now, and I'm currently preparing Lainiee's appeal to POPLA, having received the POPLA code today as ordered by the court.

Sarah, lots of good knowledge here, but lots of people getting frustrrated by the same questions again and again by people who appear to want spoonfeeding. $DEITY helps those who help themselves. We (There is still no we) will help you win this, but please excuse some abruptness.

Feedback very welcome Sarah, helps to give us the motivation to continue helping those also receiving unfair PCNs. Well done in achieving a very positive outcome.

Could I just ask, for the sake of completeness, was this a case of PE just dropping the charge (and reason for doing so), or a failure by them to provide evidence to POPLA after your appeal was submitted, or your appeal (including PE evidence) was upheld by the adjudicator, or was this a Small Claims Court result?

    Thanks

PE failed to provide any evidence to POPLA, this now seems to be standard practice by PE when faced with a forum backed POPLA appeal.
