    Poor all round, deary me.
You missed the last part of the post which said

Why is it poor customer service for these to expire?
At what point do we take responsibility for our own actions and stop this old concept of everything bad is always somebody else's fault (that is soooo last decade)?

Any thoughts on basically expecting people to take control of their own lives - the UK really does deserve its reputation of being one of the most nannied states in the world.

Totally agree - no one takes responsibility for their own actions any more - it is so easy to pass the blame and expect others to sort out the problems.

Considering that this is a website and forum which is based at getting good value and service for consumers some of the comments about what the OP posted are disgusting.
And some of you are titled [Fantastically Fervent MoneySaving Super Fan] and [MoneySaving Stalwart] on this forum.
Some of you are so angry about a small mistake made by someone.

Getting good value from vouchers: Use them sooner rather than later. It's the same with any points system operated by hotels/airlines etc.
If you hold on to them, generally you are losing value - inflation etc puts prices up, so what you could buy 2 years ago with £20 is more than you can buy today with the same amount.
    1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
    2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
    3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?

Interesting coming from someone who basically wants to bury their head in the sand about how things work.

Basically consumer law is one thing that goes in one ear and out the other with you isn't it.

Hope you enjoy your head being in the sand, hope you don't choke!

I've noticed you don't have a signature, here's a suggestion for one seeing you love fighting for the consumer so much - "If current UK & EU consumers laws don't suit you, just make it up as you go along. I do!"

The expiry date on a gift voucher has nothing to do with consumer law.

It's not illegal to have expiry dates on them unless you're planning on telling me any different?

But this seems to happen in a lot of threads, do you know why? The reason is many people get annoyed by people who can't accept any responsibility for themselves and blame everything on someone else.

Possibly related question I was curious about. I was recently looking for cheap vouchers on eBay and noticed that expired love 2 shop vouchers sold at high prices ( for what a worthless voucher would be)

They were very clearly listed as expired, so why do they sell? People being silly and not reading the listings (and titles, they weren't hiding the fact at all) or is there something dodgy going on.

Then they must take responsibility for getting annoyed and not blame anyone else.
