:hello: Hello lovely peeps
Exactly what I needed, to come on here, and see Tut ... and a sprout wreath :rotfl: which is a **brilliant** idea .... and that blog, I too am now in love with that blog, thank you RT!
I'm glad the stamp story appealed - honestly, its true :rotfl:
On an anti-moneysaving bent, I have to declare that I just demolished the rest of the chocolate orange that I opened yesterday ... good job its smaller these days, thats all I can sayIt was necessary, thats all  one of the most difficult parts of this job came out of the blue today from a phone call, so I'm making a trip next week to a hospice, and hoping that all is still okay.
Right now, after all that chocolateI'm fairly desperate for a cuppa :coffee: and then I shall get down to it.
ETA - just dealt with the post, to avoid "getting down to it"and it just goes to show, when they talk about the power of compound interest, they're really not kidding. When mortgage rates came down from 15%, they dropped quite a lot, and I diverted my newly-freed money straight into a tax free investment. For a while, anyway - I was saving for a new house, and I stopped it. But that money has sat there since the 1980s, originally about £5k I think, I don't even know. Last year, it added just shy of £1400 to the total ***faints***
My query: do I put that in my shortfall achievement amount in my sig on here?
Answer: yes, its irresistible! And its not fake money - the 8p interest from an old account went in here, so this is going to as well2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

The link in your last post doesn't work on my laptop:(. I get the header of the website at the left side at the top of the page but no other text. On the bar thingy at the top of the screen (you'll see how computer-literate I am:o) it says 500 Server Error. I'd be very interested to read it if you can post an alternative method of access please.I never mentioned it, Z, though I'm interested to hear it (well, sort of, this whole discussion is tough). The linkie didn't work for me, not on any of that site,
Well for that article, copy and paste the following into Google and then click the arrow symbol below the title of the first article (it's at the end of the line below the title where the URL is). It should pop up "cached" - click on that.
"A Knesset committee announced Tuesday that it would call on European parliaments"so I googled the term generally ... turns out kosher is more than just storage!
Oh yes! It's selection of meats, methods of slaughter, even the utensils.

Well caught MWC, I didn't see her there - GG, we're depending on you to report current shopping experiences in central London. I am, anyway :rotfl:
Well we survived intact :T. No time to visit the thingy place.
Oxford St. & Regent St. - full of people shopping. Looking like they were enjoying it. Geez.

 Hi GG  hi all
Glad you survived, GG, thanks for confirmation on the investment haul. And as to enjoying Oxford Street ... no. Just, no
Today is carrying on with book editing, and a visit to Sainsbo, the only proper walking-distance supermarket I have. There's another one being built in this town, which will actually be slightly closer, and guess what ... its a Waitrose :rotfl: the town as a whole is quite well off :rotfl:
If I have the energy, I'm also going to be doing stuff in the garden, its got so many half-finished projects its a bit daunting, but I've just had a super-duper idea for a new one... there's an old table thats slowly decomposing out there, and its taking up the space that the previous owners used to use for barbecues. The top of the table is such a shape, though, that if I sawed the legs off and turned it upside down, with a few holes drilled in it it could make a raised bed enough for salad plants and things that don't need much soil ... I think I'm on to something. Thats a blog post, though
in due course.
Life is good :j off for a canter around the boards.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Royal Mail
- left a card that a package couldn't be delivered yesterday, fair enough; but the card was illegible.
- I've just been to the sorting office, had to wait 10 minutes for a staff member to turn up. Instead of peering down the corridor they appear from, I looked out of the window; when I happened to turn round, he was finally there, just looking at me, smirking.
- the card said "left at gate". Huh? I'm on record with them as saying that undelivered parcels should be returned to the sorting office, so I can collect them (they asked us to fill in a form). So its been stolen. Plus there had been a rainstorm. And I might have been away! Its been stolen, in any case.
- staff member was going to keep the card I'd been given, the only proof as to what had happened, without giving me a receipt - when I explained that wasn't going to happen, he gave me a photocopy.
- he says someone will be in touch. I asked what I could do in the meantime, he suggests contacting the sender. Amazon. Wonderful.
- got back home just now, and **looked** at the house, just in case. And the parcel is there, its hidden by the side gate, which is ten feet back from the front door.
I don't use the side gate, and I couldn't read the card anyway. I'm letting the complaint stand, because I *might* have been away, and its been out overnight, in rain and a thunderstorm. Not a happy bunny.
Sainsbury
- new car park arrangement really is as dangerous as the local newspaper says it is.
- prices on my basic stuff are 20% - 30% higher than Asda or Iceland.
- the till offered to "let" me use a £2.50 Nectar voucher. But when I looked at the till receipt in the car park (cos I don't trust them!) I noticed I'd had £5 of vouchers available. Thats an interesting little wrinkle I haven't seen before.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Yay - a new Waitro$£! They are the only supermarket I trust and that have given me good customer service. They are not the most expensive for me either.
Happy shopping

And rightly so! Nothing worse than poor customer service - they need to realize that our custom is what keeps them in business & sloppy work is not to be tolerated!:mad:4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! I wonder about Royal Mail sometimes..... Recently something I was waiting for was returned to the sender with the reply 'couldn't find property'. Considering they deliver mail here most days, it seems a bit unlikely!
