KC, please don't ever worry about feeling 'ranty (although I'm sorry that life's circumstances have caused you to feel that way) and letting rip on here. On the scale of rantiness you are at the lower end:A. Anyway, it's your diary so you can do what you want on it:beer:
Just been having a chat with OH (on an ongoing problem that is never likely to be resolved:o) and that's decluttering to the point of minimalism. I often mention the problems we would face if we had a house fire or flood and needed to choose what we rescued and do it in a hurry. Not just that though, the problem would be in locating said 'cherished' items in the first place:eek:. I really admire your decluttering zeal, KC:A. Despite the best of intentions our enthusiasm is constantly thwarted. I suspect it's because the volume of stuff is overwhelming. OH is much more of a hoarder than I am, and that's saying something;). He's so sentimental about his family stuff (useless in monetary and usability terms usually) and we've sheds and a garage full of old furniture(not antique or desirable vintage), and other things that are just junk really. Breaking the decluttering into easily managed goals doesn't seem to work any more:o. OH tends to just move things about from one place to another. I'm much more ruthless than him:j but daren't dispose of any of his 'treasures'.
The need to do something NOW has been brought home to me even more by the sight of the removal vans at the rear of Number 10 and the Camerons having to totally clear out all their stuff in a day or two:eek:.0 -
CBC I can relate to your problem with your decluttering. At home we are gradually working through it - especially since we moved. BUT my mum's house is another matter and my brother (who lives there) is just as bad if not worse!!!
I am hoping that I can help them clear some carp during the back end of this year...good luck.

Aw, thank you both! Much appreciated - the truth is, my *life* is fine - my resignation is linking in to some shenanigans, lets saynothing that I can share. I'm self medicating with fatty food (cheese and salted peanuts
) and I'm watching Ginger Cat's tiny girlfriend, currently in possession of my garden - it's quite blowy here, so every twitch of a leaf *might* be a prey animal, and she's having a fine old time as a result

I do think it's important to know what you'd rescue if you had to evacuate in a hurry - a flood, a fire, a chemical spill from a traffic accident, that stuff happens - we all need the paperwork, the online links and whatnot. It's why I'm updating my laptop with the genealogy info - I don't really have any **things** that I cherish enough to risk life and limb for - I have a 19th century family engagement ring my mum gave me a couple of years ago, and thats with my bag of paperwork to grab and go in emergencies. With a nail clipper and some paracetemolI kid you not!

I'm not sure I follow the logic: To avoid the possible loss in a possible house fire, you should chuck it out beforehand..?"Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

As for Boris, well.........
"Boris negotiated in Europe. I seem to remember last time he did a deal with the Germans, he came back with three nearly-new water cannon." - Theresa May
Now he's Foreign Secretary. Employed in that role by Theresa May.
How does that work then?"Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

Sorry, I didn't word it very well:o. I didn't say I felt sorry for the Camerons (although I do actually so I'm obviously in a minority on here;)) but I was putting myself into their situation of having to clear everything out so quickly.
I realise that they had plenty of help but until a couple of days ago they expected the new leader's selection process to go on until September. They certainly didn't expect to have to up sticks in a couple of days:eek:. Their children still have another week before the end of their school terms. It's a big upheaval for children:(0 -
I have no idea how it works Z. I really dont.

Cameron wasn't feeling sorry for Cameron, given he was humming happy tunes.carbootcrazy wrote: »but I was putting myself into their situation of having to clear everything out so quickly.

I'm surprised they're not in some boarding school divorced from the concerns such as where the parents live. I wonder which schools have Downing Street in their catchment area...I have no idea how it works Z. I really dont.
