Glad your day improved. If you ever need a place to stay on the west coast of Scotland for your travels, I'm your girl :)
That's a very generous offer, earthgirl - I might actually take you up on that for a night next year - I have a wedding in Dumfries that I've researched (in 1850, by the way :D) of two Irish immigrants - he was a genuine Irish navvy, I'd like to see the place - on the way to say hello to beanie, natch :j

I used to like walking between the two as well. I would cross over Euston Road, going south, and walk along parallel roads to Euston Rd. An extra few minutes on your journey but so much quieter.
I think I went lookseeing at those roads one time I had hours to wait - it struck me very strongly as the sort of London that Jane Austen would have been familiar with :) no higher praise and all that :)

I've had a tip run, as well as my recycling bin being full-for-me. Assorted electrical/electronic gear has now left the house, as well as part of the fence that blew down over the winter

Thats been a particularly long time leaving :o All the sweeping in the front has really made a difference, though breaking up a fence has caused a tiny amount of additional debris :rotfl:

Thanks Cheery! It was hot work, I have to say, and I only managed half, but my lovely helper (aka my sister) is coming back next week so we can finish the job.

  • Well done on all the decluttering and fantastic after-retirement plans. I hope the last few weeks go quickly, it doesn't sound as if they will be easy.

Thanks Elephant :) Yes, the plans are starting to stack up now, and at the 6 week mark I really can say "not long now" :j:j:j

Today is yet another quiet day, of course, and I'll be [STRIKE]gardening [/STRIKE] weeding and pruning. I was mooching about the interweb listening to podcasts etc about being a kindle author, which was inspiring :j so I'm plotting a bit more about that.

    :hello: Morning

    It's the start of Week 6 :j:j:j

Emergency phone call on a Sunday :( so no weeding and pruning done. Had to get out for a walk after that, so I went and took some pictures of a local water management scheme for flickr, it interests me. And lots more book-plotting :D I think I may be too busy to retire :D

Still, got to get ready for work today, 3 hours. We'll see how it goes. I feel like Captain Oates, I may be gone some time - hopefully not like that.

Thanks folks! Yep, today went well, in all ways, thank heavens. I put a little list of jobs in the diary that *had* to be done - sweep the sawdust from the paving, put the dried beans on to soak, that sort of really minimal thing, and I got all four done, as well as the 3 hours clien work, so I'm very happy. Shan't be doing much of anything else, unless its tidying or scanning :D

*When* I write is starting to get interesting too - first thing in the morning, and last thing at night, really last thing, its quite odd, but its happened for a few weeks now. I could certainly live with that as a permanent pattern :j
