By manual means ed!!! A sharp knife or grass shears.

Telescopic or short ones? Am prone to sore knees, but it's a temporary thing from decorating (I hope!) :)

At 33, I wonder if I will ever feel able to retire.
Well, you're definitely doing the right thing in coming on here - the whole Financial Independence thing is crucial, the younger you are. I'm in the first years of the rise of the age of eligibility for pensions - until I was early 40s, it was 60 **weeps quietly** and heaven knows what it will be by the time you and Ed get to my age.

Knee pads! To keep the spends down, do you have an old neoprene camping mat? Thats what I use in the garden - and I bet your local equivalent of Poundland sell them too.

I haven't managed to do any pruning, but I've been scrubbing and cleaning hardware thats been left in the garden when I haven't quite finished jobs :o - a lovely old clay flowerpot, jugs, containers, a couple of old pieces of slate that'll get bashed and added to the little slate border - and my patio chairs :j which are now clean enough for a guest to sit on, as well as me :D

    Excellent decision there, Ed :)

I've had a catchup with my lovely sister, and its currently very steady drizzle here, v unpleasant, so no garden work just yet. So I may even be putting some stuff up for sale on Amazon! Wonders never cease :)

On the gardening note, I use an edging tool for the lawn, better for your back and knees. You can get them quite cheap from pretty much any DIY store.

It's a bit time consuming at first but does the job neatly and saves your knees. I am told by a number of friends who have retired that dodgy knees are one of the things that stops them doing more walking etc so maybe I am biased :)

I've seen those, Darpett - like long handled shears with a 90 degree turn in the blades?

Drizzle stopped, but I'm hungry now :D and I certainly want to stuff my face after emergency phone calls :(

Those or the half moon ones. Either way they are a bit kinder on your body :)

    Morning all :)

Week 7 in the countdown :j:j:j

I'm supposed to just have 1.5 hours work today, we'll see how that pans out, I hope thats true.

Otherwise, I really need to get myself in gear and do the stuff on my list. I've been reading rasputin/MvM's diary, and its properly put me to shame :p so as I've done all my email and weather checks, as well as put the dw on, I'm **stopping** here and getting going on doing stuff. That may mean cleaning the bathroom _pale_

Sigh ... I never touched the bathroom :(

I *did* accidentally list a book on Amazon - a duplicate I bought from a charity shop for 99p :o was up on there for £17.50! Postage will be expensive, as its a big hardback, but I can take the hit for £17.50 :D

Paid my credit card bill, and chucked some money at my savings account :j

And I got the wm on, and the clothes are finally drying on the line, after a lot of rain.

I'm in such a bad temper though, or I was until I came on here. Repeat after me, I am not a rubber duck. I am not a rubber duck.

That'll do, thanks :j Off to the garden soon.
