These days, even the most simple transaction seems to be complicated.
Nice woman in Iceland though - really must check out my local Iceland
Ooh, I had my Healthy Supplies delivery this morning - I'm very impressed with their service and will definitely use them again. Plus so much cheaper than the supermarkets and H&BEarly retired - 18th December 2014

I notice that you buy a lot of frozen veg, KC. Nothing wrong with that of course, they're probably fresher than supposedly 'fresh' fruit and veg that has travelled all around the world and sits in the sun on a market stall for goodness knows how long.
I don't tend to buy much frozen veg myself (apart from peas) mainly because my ancient fridge-freezer has a very small capacity:(. My new one (whenever that will be affordable:o) will be a whopper:j.
I just wondered how you get on with frozen cauliflower and broccoli. The very few times I've had it I found it rubbery and chewy in texture (especially my favourite veg, cauliflower) and nothing like as nice as fresh.0 -
We have quite a bit of frozen veg too but I've never really got on with brocolli and cauliflower - they seem to go a bit soggy and unapetising (but maybe I'm just cooking them wrong
)
We usually have peas and spinach, and I LOVE frozen green beans - sometimes I just microwave them and eat on their own with a bit of salt:rotfl:

A lot of frozen veg is extremely unappealing (a.k.a. disgusting
)- its just one of the ways I cope with my lack of energy. Chopping stuff up, cooking it, washing up the chopping board (which can't go in the dishwasher) ... I'd be able to do even less if I had to do all that

If you overcook frozen veg, they go to mush. Remember, they are blanched before freezing, so a touch a la dent may make them taste better. I steam them."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

Thanks Z - they're definitely unappealing, so I sort of treat them like medicine, for the nutrition not the pleasure. Having to also wash a steamer wouldn't be helpful. They get about 3 minutes in water. That'll do
It's one of the reasons I'm longing to retire!
I've been up for aaaaaages ... listed a book and 3 CDs, plus realised that two books I'd kept back from the charity shop *aren't* at good prices online after all, so thats the charity shop pile started
Weatherwise its a much better day today, so anything I do - pruning, gathering weeds, gathering rhubarb to cook and freeze - is going to be garden-based.

Well anything that decides to live on it will soon be treated to a gently soothing dose of live steam...
My steamer is stainless steel - so you don't have to be gentle. It's one of the reasons I'm longing to retire!
There are many reasons I want to retire, washing up isn't one of them... :rotfl:ETA - and just tell me this, if you will: where's my flash drive? Who broke in and took it?
Tie a balloon to it, then you won't lose it..."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

I'll definitely go with the balloon suggestion, ta muchly
Energy spared from cooking and washing up (:D) has now been applied to the garden - sawing in half some of the laurel branches, so they fit in the bin and don't take up so much roomplus wholesale nobbling of cleavers trying to take over the planet - they must be stopped, I tell you
I'm going to stop them by getting a man with a van to get rid of all the **stuff** in the garden - the collapsing shed, the fallen down front fence, the horrible laurel branches. I will be victorious, I tell you, I will :jSave2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
That's one of the reasons we get a 'man' in to cut back our large shrubs - it'd take us forever to get rid of all the branches.
You will beat that garden!Early retired - 18th December 2014

Yep, I think I have to live with that. You know that walk I mentioned? There's a guy hires out as a self employed labourer who'd be just the job - I'm going to take a quick photo of his sign :rotfl:2023: the year I get to buy a car0
