I just have to think, never mind, while I'm stuck here, I'll do the sorts of things that people usually do just *after* they've retired, so I can get to the fun part of retirement quicker, rather than the sorting out and decluttering that most people need to do :)

The fun part of retirement sounds, well, fun:j.

I wish I hadn't just drifted into mine, the long anticipation would have made me appreciate it so much more.

Great pity that you can't manage to attend the Irish wedding.

    Take care x

Yes, such a shame you can't get over to Ireland

This may make it better or worse, depending on your point of view, but it'll be a bit crazy over there with both the Republic and Northern Ireland doing so well in the football

Both teams are in action this weekend, so it could be manic, especially if they win!

Ah KC, I've only just seen your message now I'm back at the hotel! Don't have internet out and about, and I was accidentally locked out of my tenporary office this afternoon so couldn't get online there either (what a shame, I had to have a cup of tea in the museum gardens in the sunshine instead ;) ) :D

Is it still warm here? Well, mostly it's been cold and drizzly and grey, but when the sun's come out it's been super warm :j all kinds of weather today! Sunny first thing, then grey, then raining, then I very nearly took my shoes of it was so hot! Not sure that's helpful, sorry... :$

The railway station... I was there on Monday, just getting off a train at 10.30 at night(broad daylight of course!) Seemed quite grand, but they're in the process of rebuilding so lots of scaffolding and big, odd empty spaces. There was an ancient posh hotel opposite where I imagined the likes of Bertie Wooster staying :D

Sorry, not entirely sure that's helpful :o :rotfl: sorry :o

Goldie, that makes it better, thank you - with the Liverpool rellies being mad on the football as well, even the wedding itself might have footie issues - and I can't imagine what Dublin Airport will be like :rotfl: I just have to make the best of it.

Tea in a garden :rotfl: Thats definitely a Cheery Daffs kind of thing :D

:rotfl: I was there in September, and took the train over the spine of the country to Bergen, and if you include snow in that list, thats what it was like. Nothing's changed then :D

Bertie Wooster in Oslo is a wonderful image, well worth writing about :rotfl: thank you!

Much more prosaic here - and in a really good way. I feel like I've more or less recovered my energy from this time last month, when I went to the hairdresser's and had a relapse. Today, although the house is (almost) as filthy, the garden is (almost) as overgrown, I feel strong enough to pay attention to it all.

Got to start paying attention to money admin soon, but in the meantime, Photo Box warned me they were shutting my non-functioning account, so I've rejigged it for the cat photos, and I'll start to work with that when I'm just footling around late at night. Its not heavily populated right now - two cat photos and a photo of Michael Shanks taken at a convention :D

    Mortgage-free Glee!
Glad you are starting to feel better.

We have just turned down a wedding invitation in a neigbouring country as we just can't face the travel either with the kids, or trying to get babysitters for the weekend. Its the third wedding invite this year which is lovely, but we know our limits and I'm happy with the decision.

Hope you continue to feel better kc.

Thanks for chipping in on that, earthgirl, that makes me feel a bit better. I've never turned down a wedding invite in my life - never had kids, so never had that sort of need, of course.

Hi ho. Life goes on, and I'm not touching this morning's news with a bargepole :) just going to carry on, clearing the decks, and making sure I can move forward when I need to.

Harvesting my perennial plants would be good - slugs are harvesting right now :( YouGov haven't sent me any surveys, bah humbug, how very dare they.

Three hours work spread out over this afternoon, I'm going to make sure I'm ready to start the weekend when the last one leaves, and not get caught up in preparations *for* the weekend *during* the weekend.

That's where I've ben KC, Bergen, not Oslo :) although I did fly to Oslo one day and come back to Bergen on the train - possiblybthe same journey you did? There was lots of snow in the mountains :j

Back in England now and the plane was delayed so I hsve not et acquired the cup of tea I promised myself IMMEDIATELY on landing  :rotfl: You're making me think about my garden though which is probably horrifically overgrown with weeds!

Oh well, going to take your advice and just relax and enjoy the train journey :)

The Oslo-Bergen flight might be quite dramatic at some stages! You're literally a high-flyer now, Cheery :D though very sorry you didn't get your cup of tea.

I did do quite a bit of my "preparing for the weekend" stuff - though I confess, quite a lot of it was last night, which I count as weekend, but still, haven't needed to do any of the *really* boring stuff today, like rinsing plates to put in the dishwasher :D is that a first world "problem" or what :p

Did the banking, pootled about a few shops, and tried to buy a new flash drive to backup the computer, wanted to pay cash because its gift money. Nope. They had to order it in, so I had to buy a gift card first, and their computer was nearly frozen, and then they wanted my email address, and *then* they wanted my name and address. For a cash purchase. Got fed up and said no, sorry to waste the salesman's time - the salesman had just been chatting about their antiquated computer system. Yep!

OTOH - just bought a few bags of frozen veg at Iceland, and the lady in front of me wanted to let me go in front of her. Second time someone's offered that in Iceland. Terrible rep, but lovely people :)
