Eeek ...good luck with the cleaning.ewww to the mould!!! - just hate the stuff - I'm so thankful we bought a dehumidifier a couple of years ago as in this old house it takes out 16L every 24 hours - and that is on days that there is no laundry hanging up!
Is that your second time round on the yougov earnings? - 2000 already - wow - I'm on the first go and just under 2000!:o:o rats, I've been here a long time!
please be careful of breathing anything in, the last thing you need is an infection xxx
should really go check my cupboards as well ...:rotfl:
And oh boy, Inland Rev have just written to me, about tax claiming - it looks like I claimed it twiceand I think I agree with them about that, but they've also double counted my French income so they think I owe them pots of money. I can prove the double counting by sending them scans of the French bank statements, but its something I could really do without ...
Family stress too. The second wedding is bringing it to the surface

oh no. I.R. double counting is not good. Could be more stressful than family! hope things improve soon.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!0 -
Thanks both
I think I've sorted it - two 20 minute phone calls later. I'd double inputted a claim, and they want that back, fair enough after all. But the French income was also double inputted apparently, so at least thats been sorted out too. I pay them, they pay me some of it back, it should turn out to be a zero sum game. But I could really, really have done without it.
Don't think I can face any computer time today.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

All in all, it sounds like a most perplexing day.
Hopefully there'll be an improvement tomorrowEarly retired - 18th December 2014

Perplexing is a good word, Goldie!
I've discovered lots of stamps - some used ones, including one for a halfpenny! At least its a decimal halfpenny :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: there's also a Penny Red, the successor to the Penny Black - they're much more common, not nearly so valuable, and I think I'll be selling off as much as I can - I like the visuals, but thats what scanners are forThere's unused ones in amounts that are useful to actually use too, if they're no good to be sold
Needing a quiet day today, which is ridiculous because I've *had* two quiet/no-client days, but I feel shattered. Lots of rain overnight, so it'd be a good day to pull up some grass in the borders, which has taken over while the cherry laurel was getting its comeuppance.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Finally managed to catch up on all the missed posts from when I was away. Oh boy, there were so many:eek:. I never fail to be entertained, educated and cheered by the banter and friendliness on this thread:A. It was an evening very well spent:T
There were quite a few mentions of 'faffing' on here a few weeks ago. What a lovely, comical word that is. I could faff for England myself:rotfl:. Oh, and that reminds me, have a Happy St. George's Day everyone:beer:. Well, the English posters anyway. I always think it's such a pity that whilst Welsh, Irish and Scottish people celebrate their national saints with enthusiasm and pride we tend to pay scant attention to ours. Moan over:o0 -
I agree CBC ... happy St Georges day to all my English friends xxxx0
-
Thats so sweet that you read through, CBC :kisses3:
And a Happy St George's Day to all  though I wish dragons still lived in Turkey - thats where all the action happens, I think :rotfl: I wish we accepted our national flag - England and Britain/the UK have committed their share of atrocities, but Gandhi was a supporter believe it or not, and he also said that the only empire in history against which non-violence could have succeeded, was the British empire. I'm not a supporter of empire, but I like that quote
I've just been reading about that area - threw out another bag of unspeakable vileness from under the stairs, and found my letters and cards and whatnot from my au pairing days. Ha! The diary stops when I start the au pairing job. I kept it going through Norway, Germany, Italy, Greece and the Greek Islands, Yugoslavia, and the first two places I stayed in France. Then it stops deadI'm fairly sure its because it was so vile
Has anybody ever read the diaries they wrote when they were 21? I thought I was so mature, so savvy:rotfl: oh boy, talk about self centred and oblivious  It's given me a good laugh, and I'm currently writing down memories of the actual au pair experience, see if there's enough there. It may not come to anything, but I can't be practical all the time.
Otherwise, just tidying in the garden. And my understairs cupboard won't recognise itself soon :j Useable space!2023: the year I get to buy a car0
