Just sprinting;) in to say
Sorry I've been out of touch for so long but I'm looking forward to an enjoyable catch-up of all the posts I've missed. It might take a considerable time:rotfl:. Knowing this thread, all sorts of interesting and exciting things will have been going on whilst I've been away.
I hope you are all well and enjoying the welcome sunshine if you're as lucky as I am and have some.
See you again later:j0 -

Today I have:
- given Amazon the BIC code. But they have a minimum payment of £25, for advertising only, and I've earned about £2 :rotfl: Its the kindle book thats earned anything at all proper, but thats KDP, not Amazon, and that hasn't quite reached the (much larger) payout threshold either, for "checks", because each country pays separately, and I had sales in several countries (which surprises me).
To Do: change to electronic transfer, get paid regularly no matter what the amount, and don't have the faff of going to the bank to input a "check"sorry I can't resist the American spelling :rotfl:
- taken possession of my supermarket delivery, which went well :j
- changed bulbs in the porch - both went at once, what are the odds? Rationalised my lightbulb storage, and found I probably have enough halogen bulbs for the rest of my lifethats because I forgot where I stored them, of course :rotfl:
- started to tidy (preparatory to cleaning ) the bathroom - how can one small room, only used by me, get quite that dirty? Of course, its right by the back door, I use it as a utility room too, wellies and all :rotfl:
- working on the phone at 3pm, I think I need to be outside for a bit before then, so I'll finally be sweeping the decking :j
ETA - that was so easy to add my banking details and ask to be paid in sterling for everything by electronic transfer, I had to come back on to celebrate

Max out the RAM, and replace the main disk with a *good* SSD and you'll be surprised how sprightly it'll be.
That sounds like I'd need to 'take the back off' my laptop.
In years gone by, I remember we'd fitted new sound cards etc to desktops, but as the years have passed, I've grown less inclined to carry out DIY on the computer. I've slowed down, so the computer can slow down with me!
KC, glad you got your banking details sorted. 'Checks' are such a nuisance these days. It's slightly better that I now have multiple bank accounts, so it gives me more opportunity to pay them in, but it still takes time to get them cleared etc.Early retired - 18th December 2014
If your dreams don't scare you, they're not big enough0 -
I've never carried out any upgrade of any computer I've ever had
woe is me
:rotfl: I think I'd like to watch somebody do it first
GG, for me, any cheque creates extra work, I'd rather have it just turn up in my bank account, as long as its adequately referenced, of course. And during the winter, it's such a piffling reason to come into contact with cold and flu germs! If I'm going to get flu, I'm going to get it from something I want to do, not a boring admin task
Two sets of outdoor work on the laurel done :j only about 20 minutes each, but it looks *really* different now. First one, sweeping up general detritus, trying to leave behind all the woodlice so they can carry on doing their thing (on the soil, not the decking though). And afterwards I took out my frustration on the branches that have taken root in the detritus :eek::eek: I'm not kidding, I have *new* cherry laurel plants ... they've now been hoicked out of their situation, and perched away from all nutrients so I can put them in the bin.
And then I read a book in the sun:j2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Have a look on YouTube, KC, to see someone doing whatever it is you need help with. Just type in whatever you're looking for in the search box and dozens of possible ways to do it will come up. It's often difficult to sort the wheat from the chaff as I know to my own cost after the hours wasted on there:rotfl:
I wouldn't attempt anything too advanced in the techy department myself but I've managed to find some free/cheap DIY fixes for very simple problems on there in the past. It's usually my first port of call anyway:T
Ah, and reading a book in the sun (preferably with a cup of tea) is my idea of heaven on days like this:j. Must find my polychromatic (I think that's the word) reading glasses in readiness for the sunny days ahead.0 -

It's usually like the first picture - you open a flap, stick the little card into the clips, the screw the flap back down.Goldiegirl wrote: »In years gone by, I remember we'd fitted new sound cards etc to desktops, but as the years have passed, I've grown less inclined to carry out DIY on the computer.
