KC, saw this in Madrid and thought of youA positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

So my laptop is going to get a new lease of life :j I'll wait to study up on that till after I retire, cos its fine for now, but I really appreciate all the feedback - this is a resource for Goldie too
I've tried to upgrade previous laptops, but when I've taken them into a local "proper" place, they've just laughed at me ... now I know what's possible though, I'm going to go for it
Gally! :j:j:j you star! Thank you for the pic!
I have a couple of hours work at lunchtime, and an email to answer, so although I'm going to do the odd piece of gardening for my sanity, today is going to be a writing day other than the therapy work :j I've had a blip this last 4 weeks when I got over-tired - I want to write again now!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Well, I never even knew there was a flap on the underside of my lap top - you live and learn!Early retired - 18th December 2014

It's fascinating, isn't it!
Very tired today - I have to accept I can't write on a day when I have to clean the place and then work, it can't be done. But I did a stint on the laurel, and then *another* stint when I saw the news about Victoria Wood, that spooked me. Not that I even particularly like her brand of comedy, I don't - she's just so near to me in age. So I'm very pleased at how I kept to my arrangement to have these next few days as time off from work, to focus on what *I* want to do.
Second cuppa tea, and writing, is what I want to do. More later
ETA just checking on whether Amazon might have paid me already (no they haven't) and found a very helpful little link from my bank to an HMRC website, about claiming back tax paid on savings for the tax year just finished. Since I was *way* under for the year before, I'll fill this in once I've got the figures to hand - hope others can use it too http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/tools/r85/r85-2015.htm

I've been chasing permission all day to use a painting on the cat blog from a local museum. Finally got to speak to the bloke I needed, who was very sweet, instantaneous permission, and another cat story - about a cat buried under the floorboards of the local workhouse, found during renovations 10 years ago! The universe plays fair (except for the cat!)

Dear me, things are a bit different in the house this morning! I was looking at the free kindle book of the American girl's au pairing experiences in France in the 1970s (comme moi, vous savez
, tout le monde ) so I peeped into the understairs cupboard to see if I could find my diaries. My photos are scanned into the laptop, but in the days of film cameras, nobody I knew took very many, so its not like it would be today.
Anyway, the main thing is what was *in* the understairs ... omigod. Mostly mould, and mouldy cardboard boxes, containing some mouldy things  I now fully understand the Kon Mari term "died in storage". Thats what this stuff has done
There was mould all over one particular photo frame, but I managed to save the photoone of me sandwiched between Christopher Judge and Michael Shanks, and signed by both of them
:j plus the Monopoly set from my childhood (box has died, contents are fine, including the knitting needles I'd forgotten I had
) and a Zimbabwean "harp" made from old cans, which is actually rather lovely.
So today is posting bloggits, and clearing mould. Thats it! Plus my yougov total is now just over 20002023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Eeek ...good luck with the cleaning.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!0 -

ewww to the mould!!! - just hate the stuff - I'm so thankful we bought a dehumidifier a couple of years ago as in this old house it takes out 16L every 24 hours - and that is on days that there is no laundry hanging up!
Is that your second time round on the yougov earnings? - 2000 already - wow - I'm on the first go and just under 2000!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!!
