Aieee, I've just read part of that. Thanks for the linkie, Z! I don't know what to do with the amount of pension money I have, though - it's spread about amongst several companies, even my pension is spread among 3 pension providers. Thing is, you can't keep that sort of money out of the system altogether, you can't - keeping that sort of dosh under the mattress, it's asking for trouble :(

I wasn't suggesting that in particular, just to keep an eye on things. If things do go south, then the state would be best advised to ignore the ECB rules and just print the money to cover. Otherwise people would quite naturally react like they did in the 1920s and not use banks - at all. That would crimp the state's ability to see transactions, and hence tax them.

That would make the state sad, and the state would cry... :rotfl:

If the UK joins the Euro, then that printing option is not available.

In either instance, keep an eye out and be ready to act. In such a situation, if you snooze, you lose. It is unlikely that a purchased annuity would be "haircut" for example, though there would undoubtedly be other options available.

I noticed a "protecting your savings" linkie, so I'll get that free report :D and investigate what they say.

Well be sure to report back if they have anything interesting to say.

    Thank you all, much appreciated.

To be honest, an awful day - to be expected in such a place with an *ex* friend I haven't seen in almost 18 months ... we both seemed to feel it was the right thing to do though, and now it's done, and a line can be drawn.

My sister made sure she drove me there and back, bless her, even though she's off to France on the early ferry.

I'm reacquainting myself with my DVD recorder, nothing is going to prise me away from it :) though I do have my laptop on my knee :):):)

Aw KC, take care of yourself this evening, sounds like a difficult day all round. Reacquainting yourself with the DVD player sounds like the perfect idea xx

Glad for you that the visit is now over and a line can be drawn. Hope you have a nice day today :)
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

    Morning :)

Well, a better day :) and its sunny too.

There was a thunderstorm, and my broken roof *still* hasn't led to the collapse of the ceiling - roofer is scheduled for Tues, Thur or Fri, don't know which.

    The practicalities take precedence today:
    - 1.5 hours client work
    - bit of cleaning around that
    - phone a plumber about the sink outlet
    - I need to use the dishwasher so, erm, I'll hover about outside with a big plastic jug to catch as much of the outflow as I can  I remember a short series of Sarah Beeny programmes where *so* much damage was caused by leaks straight onto the foundtions.
