I was thinking of just keeping it in cash between now and September of this year, when I start to draw on it - if it loses 20-25% of its value between now and then because of a stock market correction/recession, I'm snookered. Isn't that the usual thing, to put more of your pension fund into cash as you approach your retirement date? Thought it was ...
Oh - its called derisking: http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/pensions/article-2771041/Should-risk-pension-investments-retirement.html
And probably shouldn't be done if you go the drawdown route. Oops. More research needed, really quickly.

Hope your Friday goes smoothly. MCIBoo to virus. Take care.Hope virus improves. Have you tried using something like euculuptus ?sp oil mixed with whatever you have on hand overnight? Sometimes helps in these parts.
Watty - you've hit the nail on the head, that I don't do *quite* enough about the symptoms - I had a brainwave this morning and took an anti-histamine. I *know* I have low level allergies to various pollens, so I'll see what that does. But you're right, steaming over a bowl with something like eucalyptus (sp? :rotfl:) really helps.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

I'm sorry to hear it. I hope the situation heals - a long breech like that is very difficult.
Thank you for posting your update on here, I appreciate it :kisses3: All the best.

Lovely to see all the peeps too, thanks for your input2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Right, I'm back again, after a lovely wander about the boards ...
I've been doing a thought experiment for the last few days on my phone - writing out a typical month's grocery spends, which I want to keep to £100 a month. I know it sounds peanuts, but its the sort of level I live at now, just that when I retire I'll have to be extra careful about it. I also intend to forage the makings of salsa verde from safe areas like footpaths, plus blackberries and apples (and a plum tree, and lots of cherry trees) grow all round here. Plus I have an actual garden
Just had another brainwave - I'm clearing the decking at the bottom of the garden, and I need to continue that (the fallen cherry laurel leaves have started to compost! which is damaging the decking ) but I was imagining sitting out in the morning (even with a coat on) ... where? Current seating not good for the morning, its positioned for the rest of the day. I was thinking of using that decking, but by the time I get there, my coffee will be cold
so I've just noticed that the sun comes between the houses to a different bit of my by-the-house-normal-patio, right outside the back door, very near current seating, thats a result :j:j:j
Anyway, the plan today, apart from pootling about, is to clean the built in wardrobe and only replace the clothes I judge to be worthy of passing the Kondo test :j2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Okay, I cleaned the wardrobe, and, um, I sort of sorted the clothes - coats and anoraks in the little bit, indoor/outdoor jackets right next to them, started to put the jeans & trousers next to them.
That's it for now - slow cooker has *got* to go on, I'm waiting for things to get ready which is why I'm on here
I've also got another bin bag of cherry laurel and assorted decking rubbish kondoed out of the garden or even *onto* the garden - compost is compost, after all, never mind it composted on the deckingThe wood of the decking is definitely suffering
Anti-histamine feels good :j
Hospice visit arranged for tomorrow afternoon. Hopefully my sister will be able to drive me there, and I'll get a lift back to the station.
Must phone a plumber on Monday - the wastepipe from my kitchen sink (and my dishwasher ) has become detached from the drainpipe  must have been Storm Katie that did it - I hope so anyway, otherwise heaven knows how long its been like that  I'm having lots of thoughts about maintenance ...2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Gosh KC, you are indeed facing a fair few maintenance challenges at the minute! :ekk: good work with the wardrobe (you've reminded me a charity bag came through the door that I intend to fill!) And the garden too :j I've just been out in mine in the last of the sun before it goes behind the houses, most pleasant
Glad you're feeling a little better and hope the hospice visit goes well tomorrow.
And CBC, sorry youre going through some tough times right now. Sending you hugs xxxxx0
