Oh dear, I hope you have managed to get some repairs organised. Thank goodness for insurance.Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D0 -

Hope you can get something sorted out soon. At least weather forecast is reasonable for the next few days, so it gives a breathing space.
Not suprised you are feeling stressed, I would be too.
Hope you are getting some good rest. Not good

Had to be a bit focussed today - 2.5 hours work, and **loads** of cleaning, because I didn't clean at all while I was on "holiday"
Now I absolutely *have* to get a new Senior Railcard for my mum, it's free train travel round her way, but she takes a few long rail journeys every year, so its worth it - I love her optimism, she wants the 3 year one :j:j:j

Bleep. Mucho bleep. I'm a day late in buying the £20 off the 3 year deal
Bother bother bother
I'll hang on for a bit and see if they do another offer before Whit, which is when she needs this latest ticket2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Morning!
Railcard - good news! I'd started the purchasing process, so they let me finish, at the discounted price :j They even have a separate button to press if you're buying it for someone else - makes sense, as most people my mum's age don't have computers.
Roof - couple of hours of heavy rain here yesterdayso I carried on with house tetris - sky is blue again now, that volatility is the forecast for the next few days. I might have to say "yes" to roofers even though I have clients in the house, its a bit of an emergency
Groceries - I was going to pop into town to buy some frozen veg, but I got a £1 fee delivery from Asda for tomorrow, so I did that instead :j
Work - 2.5 hours again today, none of it on the phone, boo. I never have workmen here if I have clients here, they always have to work around my clients, but this is an emergency, with the house not being watertight - if they can do it today, I'll have to have them here. Am expecting fireworks as a result2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Was wondering about the roof yesterday! Visiting parental & I were on the train back from Brighton when the heavens opened.
Think it best that this time round the roof takes priority over the clients...Watertight is very necessary.
Yeah to railcard success!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! (24 OCT 2016)(With heartfelt thanks to those who have gone before us & their indubitable generosity.)...and now I have a mortgage! (23 AUG 2021)New projection - 14 YEARS 10 MONTHS LEFT OF 20 YEARS (reduced by 15 mths)Psst...I may have started a diary!0 -
Thanks RT
You have a visiting parental? Fantastic :j Hope you're having a lovely time - have they seen Brighton before?2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Eek, good luck with getting the roof mended KC. Sounds like it's unavoidable but hope they can fit around your clients, and if not, that it doesn't cause too many problems.
Well done on the railcard! :j0 -
Thanks Cheery - I was really pleased about the railcard. The roofers haven't even given their quote to the builder yet  though of course they'll be rushed off their feet with all the damage. But the builder himself *has* been round, preparing quotes for the mending of a fence panel and the replacement of the side gate to the back garden. The gate literally fell off its hinges, flat onto the floor :rotfl: about a year ago, and is currently propped up by a slat from a double bed :rotfl: I know how to improvise, I do :rotfl:
Feel a bit better, but tired - got some OTC stuff to help me stay asleep once I *get* asleep.
Had a lovely indication of what life can be like after I retire - my sister rang me to discuss hair appointments on the day of the weddingits a straw in the wind, my friends, a straw in the wind :j

Yesterday we had one of those intense showers as well, hail, lightening and the kitchen sink! But then it brightens up again.
But not good for your roof, hope they can do the repairs soon.
Good result on the RailcardEarly retired - 18th December 2014
