    Mortgage-free Glee!
I managed about 6 hours last night - loved looking at photos before bed, made me smile and I'm sure it helped me.

One thing that doesn't help is looking at my laptop screen :(

Agreed on both counts, earthgirl. My photos are very accessible since I put them on the laptop, but the light from a digital device does keep you awake ... got to rethink my evenings, I'm not quite doing the right thing for sleeping.

OTOH ... snippets of evening, for the last two evenings, have been spent arranging to visit a hospice on Friday, to say goodbye to that ex-friend of mine. Negotiations via her husband, she herself hasn't okayed it yet. I just want a peaceful end for her, at this stage. This is a new one on me, I must say - I've had this sort of final meeting with clients, but not friends, nor has my business partner - we're going together, hopefully.

Still, what is says is to make the most of life. My medium term aim is to retire and regain my health, then do some fun things and things I enjoy, including some that are paid. To that end, I'm clearing the decks in the house, thats what I can do *now*. Personal work continues, of course.

I'm working at midday, and a supermarket delivery is booked later on. So those are the anchors of the day, and I'm just going to walk the house and consider how best to spend my time today.

It brings everything into perspective, even if it is an ex-friend :grouphug:

It does, Sue, it really does. She's been my friend for nearly 30 years, I helped at her wedding, and in spite of how difficult our relationship has been, she only became "ex" after she was diagnosed and withdrew from everyone except her husband and her daughter. Just heard that she doesn't want to see me and my business partner together, so everything's up in the air again :(

hope that goes ok KC. Will be tough on you I am sure.
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

A terminal illness is such a funny thing, don't take it personally because it won't be about you.

My MIL didn't tell anyone and in one month we went from she had beat cancer to she died, she didn't want to deal with the truth, so we weren't to know it. It sounds like the same with your friend :)

Aw KC - friendship can be such an odd beast - especially with those you've known forever! Just remember that for every person that ebbs out, there are others that ebb in! Making peace with her will most certainly set your karma at ease!

I've got a couple of friends across the pond who fall into the 30+ category...

...with one of them we pick up just where we left off and talk about everything and nothing! starting every interaction with hugs & kisses and ending it the same way...

...the other has become an odd beast of e-mailed communication always planning to meet up & it never happening as there is always something better happening in the other's life! It's now a standing joke amongst my family as to what the excuse will be this time! They have started placing bets as to what creative excuse will be used.:D:D:D

Sometimes terminally ill people don't want to see others because of how much they've physically changed - could that be a possibility? I guess it's all a very personal journey x

Thanks all, much appreciated. *Some* of it is about me in particular - my business partner had a call from her husband over Christmas, and was requested to keep the contents of the call private from me :(
Okay, I've left a message on the answerphone suggesting dates, thats all I can do. I have to step back, I'm working at midday, and I owe my best work to my client.

Thank you for chipping in, all of you :):):)
