Blackadder :j haven't seen that for years - ye gods, it was good. Such a high point :j and actually, when you look at the subsequent careers of the main stars, you can see why - fantastic successes all over the board :ACheery_Daff wrote: »I've not seen it - going to have to investigate now
Oh dear! Not a *wonderful* thing to be associated withJust been answering a YouGov survey and it asked how likely I thought it was that there would be an apocolyptic disaster in my lifetime, and whether I'd prepared for one
Thought of you
also answered 'no' to the second question :rotfl: but said I thought I'd survive for 'up to a week' regardless :rotfl:
I blame John Wyndham, for making apocalypse seem to be so freeing
Yep, all his fault
for the record, unless we get a time-travelling dinosaur as per Doctor Who, rampaging about in the Thames, I favour the "long slow descent" scenario
Aww, thanks RT! Yep, I've survived - I'm amazed, actually. We'll see if my immune system has warded off the germs in a few days, but I was careful with the hand gel etc, I think it'll be okay. I'd really like to go to our town fete today, but I may not, I need to be careful after such a long time out. My nephew's new flat is gorgeous - and there are two cats :j middle aged rescue cats - who deigned to say hello to us :j and even let themselves be stroked, tho I did get hissed at onceoooo - a test run to London! - so exciting!:j:j:j
Hope you have a lovely time!!!

I feel more confident about there not being an apocalyptic event these days

I blame the sun, or maybe the outbreak of common sense that is seeing major charities and funds divesting their fossil fuel assets. Then again, if they're selling, someone has to be buying

Me too ... I still enjoy apoca fic tho - and not just John Wyndham variety either - to read an amazing piece of Stargate, fan-based apoca fic, read this one: http://archiveofourown.org/series/2656
"Halfway through the first pint, the mountain blows up".
And there's this one, http://frostfire-17.livejournal.com/112600.html At the hour when we are trembling ... I tell you, literate SF fans write amazing things :j
In the meantime, I'm out in the sunshine, no apocalypse here :j
ETA - please take note of age and subject warnings on those fics, they're not for everyone ...2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Love Blackadder - such fun! DD is studying Blackadder Goes Forth (if that's the WWI one) as part of her English A level! Gave me an excuse to buy the dvd, though

Oh my word! Its made it into the curriculum  Actually, I can see how something like Blackadder might be really good for that. WWI has sort of lost the humanity of the men, in amongst the tragedy, and Blackadder corrects that.Love Blackadder - such fun! I'm still resolutely doing absolutely nothing
though I do have to put a new duvet cover on - the big question of the evening is whether I swap to a summerweight duvet or not

. A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Absolutely, Gally, your life is an apocalypse, sunning yourself down south on your roof patio and keeping in touch with the ospreys online :j Daniel Jackson would love it, but he'd need to be really near a museum as well"Just because the world ended doesn't mean you get to rest" :rotfl:. Lots of adminny things to do today - I *do* want to complete the elance profile and do a blogpost, those are definite. The rest - none of it "urgent", all of it useful, but boring as all get-out. The house does need to be presentable by the end of today, and thats a deadline. Dishwasher is on; as I say, boring as h*ll :rotfl:
This is the start of week 68 in the "retirement" countdown. Hmm. Could do better - I'm booking an order to win the million pound premium bond next month. That'll do nicely

You can have that, and I'll have the £500,000 top prize on Thunderball
I saw something called 'Textbroker' - a sort of writing to order thingy, and thought it sounded like a KC thing. Might be worth a look, if you were looking for a further income streamEarly retired - 18th December 2014
If your dreams don't scare you, they're not big enough0 -
Hi Goldie - okay, I'll arrange for you to get the Thunderball winner

Thanks for the Textbroker thing! I actually took their test a couple of months ago
and they eventually wrote to tell me I'd passed, but I haven't done anything with it yet - once I realised how much was involved with this stuff, I just focussed on elance. Uploaded the 3 examples of my writing this morning, and even that created more work - title, explain what it is, and list the skills I used. Done that now, and rejigged the skills list to take account of what's shown on the profile.
I joined skype to get verified by elance, just last Thursday - and today I had my first scam call! Seemed a bit of an unknown so I googled the name, and its an American air force general, poor man's had his ID and facebook pix stolen, I found a great site called romancescam.com that gives you details of the scammers. Honestly
The to-do list I have is going to take me all week, at the very least - I'm shattered now!2023: the year I get to buy a car0
