I've been having a proper go at financial planning instead of bumbling along as I usually do, believing passion and commitment will make the figures come out right :o And, erm, its a bit of a showstopper. I won't go into all the workings, but partly because my retirement money is tied up long term - e.g. the French apartment - but also because I just haven't saved enough, there's no way I can actually retire completely when I've said I will, end August 2016 ... I have to still retire from facetoface and from therapy work, those are the really important things.

The other thing is that this doesn't include downsizing again. I will if I have to - but it would be to a flat, and I don't want to do that if I can possibly avoid it.

I'm just having to accept that I'll be working online probably at least until I can get the state pension, using a variety of streams: matched betting, slots, proof reading, transcribing, email counselling and writing. Been doing some back-of-the-envelope figures, and a realistic income from that lot, working say 20 hours a week for 45 weeks a year, is just over £7k. Thats do-able, I think.*

So, the thing is: I have to work up to that, because my current income over the last month from these streams is about £40  The challenge now, in week 69 of the countdown to my retirement, is this: can I make at least £5k from these income streams in the next 69 weeks? If I can, then I can make £7k a year, maybe more, but the £7k a year is what really matters.

So, that £5k from online work is my new goal, sig will be adjusted shortly :T

ETA: £5k over 60 weeks (holiday! must allow for holiday!) is £83.50 a week. I'll be starting slow, of course

Thank you Ed! You're very generous to let me know, I do appreciate it. And yes, its a DYOR situation as always, of course.

    [STRIKE]- client phone call[/STRIKE] done

[STRIKE]- a few more ebay entries[/STRIKE] done

[STRIKE]- check my GTD list[/STRIKE] done

    - finalise blog and post
Need to scan some stuff first, don't want to bung the computer up by doing that while backing up.

    - get on with the mould again
I've shifted furniture out of the way so I can get to it.

[STRIKE] send off ISA cheque[/STRIKE] done

[STRIKE]- open the post [/STRIKE]:o done

[STRIKE]- inspect elance for writing jobs[/STRIKE]

    - look at matched betting setups
As Ed has said, I'm too late for the footie - will work on slots instead.
    [STRIKE]
    - backing up the computer.[/STRIKE] Nearly done!

Right, the backups will be finished in about 10 minutes, which is just right. That leaves the blogpost, the mould, and the m.b.slots.

    More to follow ...
Crikey KC, are you turning into me :rotfl:.

Not so good news on the income shortfall. However, knowledge is power and knowing what you have to do and making a plan is brilliant :T.

At least you know what you need to achieve, which is a good start.

I always think a cautious start is the best way to begin, then you can build on it, much more sustainable, I think.

    Good luck with your project

I was going to claim that I did it before and no one noticed, cos I'm so serious compared to you, but I couldn't quite pull it off :D:p:D:p:D:p Yes, my ambition is to turn into you, Gally, fully retired, living my life abroad, and mumble-mumble years younger. :rotfl: And I love Barbie pink :j I was bound to snaffle it from you at some stage, sorry!

Yep, its much more detailed than I usually do (I haven't uploaded all of it, obvs!). Knowledge is power, as you say - and I knew there was a shortfall (that was what my last sig was about) I was just in a bit of denial about what do do about it :o
It'll be interesting to see how you build this - I'm hoping you'll share some of your journey with us :)
Thank you for that, SF. I definitely will be continuing on here - mse has been a lifesaver for me, and if I can simultaneously share the journey and give helpful information to others, then I'm really pleased.

Thanks Goldie! To be honest, this is the minimum - it still means that I'll get to state pension age with less than I've got now, but there are still so many variables:
    - selling the French apartment in about 9 - 10 years.
    - might need to go live with my mum to keep her out of a retirement home.
    - can't sell the French apartment so go live there and rent out this house.
    - zombies invade, and the Stargate programme is revealed to be ongoing :D

I like that, beanie :) yep, £12 a day. It will come in splodges, of course, not regular, because its all self employment.

I'm hoping to make some money via my blog - through writing/advertising maybe? Not really got a clear plan yet :o but the idea is rumbling around in the back of my mind :) I'll have a look at that thread - which part of the forum is it in?
