Sounds like a lovely day.
It's very satisfying to send stuff to recycling, to obtain things which will improve your environment, and to stock up on chocolate ! :j
On top of that it's spring and the sun is shining:TEarly retired - 18th December 2014

Hello both! Yep, definitely a good day - and chocolate is a rare treat for me, so *any* chocolate is good, but this was Gu - extra choccywoccy goodness
And the sun shone on it, and the sunset was beautiful :beer:2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Just checking emails before I shut down the lappie, and Sainsbo have sent me a £10 off a £50 shop
so I wanted to use it right away to ensure I got a £1 delivery slot. I've done that
am v pleased, the order also contains a further £3.70 off their list price. Goods worth £56.93 delivered to my doorstep, plus who knows how many nectar points, for £44.23 including delivery. I do like using their sales and bulk buy techniques against them. And the honey and the eggs are organic

Aww KC - what a lovely day you have had! - Happy for your sis rescuing her furniture! - I'm sure you both feel a lot better for it.
You sound so joyful!:j
xx RT4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! (24 OCT 2016)(With heartfelt thanks to those who have gone before us & their indubitable generosity.)...and now I have a mortgage! (23 AUG 2021)New projection - 14 YEARS 8 MONTHS LEFT OF 20 YEARS (reduced by 16 mths)Psst...I may have started a diary!0 -
What a lovely day, KC. You sounded so much more upbeat after all the setbacks and annoyances of the past weeks. Not that you are a moaner, you take all that life throws at you in your stride:A, but you have obviously been frustrated by others' ineptitude and your domestic-appliance malfunctions. Unexpected joy like the camaraderie and fun you've just had with your sister, not to mention her helpfulness, (oh, how I wish I had someone similar in my life, I'm green with envy:o) is so special.
Here's to your continued contentment:beer:. The sun is shining here so I hope it is where you are too:j0 -
Hello all! CBC, "contentment" is exactly the right word, spot on :j. I can see my way forward now, even if I was to live in this house for the rest of my life (off and on, barring trucking about Europe and the rest of the world in a van
). I know how I'd redistribute the rooms upstairs (to account for noisy neighbours!), I know how I'd take care of the garden.
I even have a much better idea of how to finance things: do as much as I can now including working mostly online, move to my mum's when she needs me to look after her and rent out this house in the meantime, sell the French apartment once the VAT repayment scheme expires, and release some equity in the house if I ever need to. Mischief Managed.
I don't mean to be smug, btwthe upbeatness mostly comes from not being ill any more, quite frankly, plus a little from slowly evolving a multi-level plan to manage my retirement. I just don't have a straightforward "retire and set up an annuity" option, because of life choices I've made. Which have been fun
CBC, sorry you're on your own with thingsI don't even know where you are, actually, I wonder if we could swapsie help for one another? Are you in any local groups? My mum has found local friends, after a lifetime of *not* having friends, by joining two local patchwork groups, and she gets quite a bit of help from members to attend the meetings (they often take their sewing machines along, and thats a bit heavy at my mum's age!).
Anyway, today for me *is* an at-home day, more or less. Washing dishes! I can't tell you how much I love my dishwasher :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: a little bit of the writing that I find the most fun, and maybe ten minutes in the garden2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

It is, it is
I haven't done that writing, but I *have* got rid of some more builder's subsoil, and done another bit of writing that needed doing.
Just re-discovered a great website too - grist.org, which is really interesting.
Have a good evening all2023: the year I get to buy a car0
