Good to hear, on the maintenance front!

Ooh, cheapest machine and replace ... I know where you're coming from ... there's a 14 day cooling off period, of course. I'll have a think. I suppose the original thinking was that it was worth the £45 extra *not* to think :o

The flies seem to have vanished - none at all for the last few days. The fogger thing took so long to arrive, and then I had to wait for a full weekday when I could use it without poisoning myself or clients with a neurotoxin, by the time I was ready to use it, the numbers were down to 2 a day or something. I've got the fogger now, though, and if they perk up again in warm weather, or it happens next year, I'll zap them like no flies have ever been zapped before. Thanks for asking!

Off to look at the diaries ...

I'm going to try for a repair by a local firm - just been looking it all up, and one thats only a mile from me has pages of "mend it yourself so we can sell you the spare part but don't have to charge you" - excellent! Unless it means they don't want povvo chavs like me bothering them - will check in the morning :)

  • Thanks for the 'welcome back', Karmacat:). I forgot to mention earlier that not only do I love the fun on here I learn so much about all manner of things (some of which I never even knew existed:rotfl:). Thanks to this thread I've made big inroads into my black mould problem, have tried out a couple of yummy recipes, have had a little play with pseudonyms (have been trying for ages to think up something memorable/interesting) for a couple of projects I'm working on where I don't want to use my real name. And so much else, so thank you:T

By the way, on the Phone Book subject, I had over 2500 books to deliver:eek:. My choice, I always take on too much:o. At least they go through letterboxes. In our local market town where I delivered this time the roads are so congested (narrow, twisty, dating from coach-and-horses days:() so on-street parking was a nightmare. Found a parking spot (usually with a half-hour limit:mad:), filled up my trolley with Phone Books and rushed off to deliver and dash back to move the car before the gestapo traffic wardens who seemed to be everywhere 'got me'. Have never looked at my watch so much in my life. Had to resort to paying for car parks but the exorbitant costs aren't reimbursed and all come out of the pittance that I'll end up earning. Rant over, sorry:o. And yes, I had a lovely time with my cat yesterday:j

Don't go for the expensive guarantee - just buy the cheapest machine you can get and replace if necessary :T.
Am definitely going to get a repair done, but by a local bod. The "Parts Guarantee" I had seduced me to the Dark Side of the Force and it was your comment that woke me up, Gally, so thank you :T

You're very welcome - do tell what you're doing, if you can hack that.

I'm a bit tired, I confess ... I've been cleaning already, but not done the phone calls yet, will have to do that next. Bit chilly here in the kitchen too, as the window's open to get some fresh air in ... I had to move the dishwasher to unplug the washing machine, for safety's sake, and the reservoir, or whatever it is in the d/w ... its not nice, lets put it that way. Now that the water's mopped up, I'm swiping down the floor with disinfectant, that's how it is :o I've recently started drinking coffee again, and I may have to have another one :o

    Anyway, the plan for today:
    - put the d/w on soak, see if something leaks, or the reservoir is overflowing, what ....
    - call local firm to arrange callout.
    - call Indesit/Hotpoint, and cancel that contract.
    - carry on disinfecting the kitchen :o
    - carry on writing projects.
    - carry on gardening.

I had matched betting noted in the diary to start today, but there are so many projects going on, I can't start another one, my head will explode, so I'd better not :D Onwards and upwards: those phone calls first.

Oh great. I'll be to blame when it dies in 3 months .

    :D Yep :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Nope! It made me realise that even my mum, now 89 years old, uses reconditioned washing machines till they die, and at each of my previous houses, I had a washing machine go a bit wrong and I phoned a local bod. So all you've done is remind to revert to previous practices. I've had this "Guarantee" sitting in my files, and honestly, its not worth the paper its printed on. Thats all!

New appointment is made, anyway (a double appointment - I pulled the hose out of the dishwasher in my urgency to get it clear, and the kitchen floor is soaking as well as smelling  ) old appointment cancelled, and a complaint put in - if they text me confirmation of an appointment, I expect a text to cancel the appointment. They don't know how to do that, so I put a complaint in. Very glad I haven't gone with them, they're definitely Dark Side :D

And now I have to wash my dishes by hand for 4 days :p I may faint :p

Can't say I blame you - I'm very reluctant to start looking at anything relating to matched betting. It seems like a lot of learning and work..... and I've given work up! (Although I'm still open to learning)

I don't think my matched betting will be happening any time soon

 If you lived closer I'd take them away and wash them for you .

Awww! Gally, thats so sweet! Thank you :) or are you insinuating something :rotfl: I'm not sure what the blue shrieky people are saying

Goldie, I just need lots of time for the matched betting - as you know, I'd done it before, and when I returned to it last year, when I took it slow, I did fine - made a 96% profit or something. But when I rushed the next one, I failed abysmally, and thats the thing, I know that for *me*, I need to be able to set it up slowly, and go back the next day and check. When I do that, I've never had to alter it, because I've set it up the way I want.

I was out in the garden before it got dark, chopping back more brambles, I'm nearly done. Determined to keep things in check this year.

Worked on the writing projects too, so I'd call today a success, even though Indesit/Hotpoint were such prats :D
