Thanks Goldie! They won't let me register, unfortunately :rotfl: so I've opened a query with them - their software thinks I've got a dodgy user name, but I'm just using my actual name, as most writers seem to do. Between that and the library, online life definitely isn't as simple as its cracked up to be :D

I know what you mean about relaxing the rules for yourself ... as to cake, though, maybe I can help? There's a gluten free cake using ground almonds that my sister made for me, it has very few ingredients - almonds, oranges, sugar etc. Like this one http://allrecipes.co.uk/recipe/2758/spanish-orange-and-almond-cake.aspx

What a shame about the library website! Sounds positively useless. I suppose there's just not the money to throw at these things sometimes although I suspect it wouldn't take much :(

You don't need money, you need talent. Money is ten-a-penny, but if you had talent, you wouldn't be wasting that resource on a library system.

    You are a genius!

That looks like a delicious cake, and full of things that are fine for me. I've saved it to my recipes file

It also prompted me to do some googling, and I've found various other cakes that use ground almonds, or ground hazlenuts or polenta, instead of flour.

Thank you so much, it's given me a whole new direction to explore:j

Although my waistline may not thank you !:rotfl:

Glad I could help, Goldie :) people are working on including all sorts of new ingredients in cakes, which helps people like thee and me :) I'm trying to cook more, but I need to watch the portion size - it can get rather excessive :o

Elance have sent me an email - turns out the trouble was almost certainly the space between my first name and last name :rotfl: I really should have thought of that :rotfl:

Today, lots of paid work in the middle of the day, but either side of that I need to:
    -lots of cleaning!
    - send a text
    - send emails
    - finally check if the dratted washing machine works. Avoidance, moi?
    - email documents to France.
    - print out the new lease for the French apartment and send it on.
    - finish this bout of scanning today.
    - all the shredding that that involves - not just financial stuff, but CPD notes that have (or might have) client names on - can't take the risk, even when its just initials, because there's data.
    - and if there's any time left, continue re-editing book draft :)

Worked on the scanning and shredding, done the paid work, put the washing out on the line :j I'm off for a walk now, I don't care about the other stuff on the list yet :rotfl:

At the risk of turning KC diary into a Watty style cookbook - I happen to have a sugar free gluten free Orange cake that using polenta and apple puree if that's of interest GoldieGirl??

I try to totally avoid all sugars hence my banana bread/orange cake suggestions. (Don't worry - wouldn't dream of sharing the brownies one as no one likes those but me - but - the cake goes down well with people who understand it won't be sweet and sticky).
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

Watty, thats a risk I'd happily run :)

I'd like the brownie one please :) to find a brownie recipe without sugar would be great, not only health-wise but it doesn't really agree with me either!

Okay, I have to do something from the list ... erm, I can't be bothered *thinking* right now, so its scanning. Again  It does need to be done and dusted as the stuff to be shredded after scanning takes up a *lot* of room!

As KC doesn't mind, Watty, please fire away with any recipes you want to share - I'm up for as many ideas as possible!
