Aww, thank you Watty! This is great :) I've run out of eggs now, so I'll be trying that one next week - I'd like to get a recipe sorted that I can use. I'm having a blitz on finding recipes from the storecupboard and banana stuff still counts, more or less :) even eggs keep much longer than their dates :)

Still scanning, so I'm wandering about all over the web in the meantime :)

Glad your cake was edible in the end, and that you have a new recipe to try! :j

Do let us know how you get on with elance - I've looked at it several times over the years but never quite got myself past the initial stage. Don't know what to say about myself!

Our library's web pages are rubbish too - every time it takes me about 10 minutes to figure out how to log in to reserve books - through endless menus and a tiny button right down the side of one page. And then I reserved two - one just needed moving from a different library and it's taken about 3 weeks so far and still no sign of it! I've actually been past the other library several times in that time, but I can't have it because now it's apparently 'in transit' :rotfl:

Hope you have better luck with ebooks! :)

Have a good day in the garden, alternating bright sunshine and heavy rain showers here - I'm staying inside!

    Thanks Cheery!

I've sat down and finished with the scanning for now, plus had a humongous banana wotnot :) so elance is next with a stronger cuppa tea.

Interesting that your library website experience seems to be as bad as mine :( it does make you wonder if the people who love books are sabotaging the websites :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: thats a new one as conspiracy theories go, hey :D

I think I waited a bit too long to do the gardening - I'll try some tidying, and chucking out the compost, but it looks pretty unpleasant out there :p

  • It started off as a bright, sunny but cold day and now it's a grey, windy and still cold day

I will be SO glad when the spring weather arrives :T you can't bee at finishing work, then going into the garden to weed and potter :)

    Best wishes Tilly x

    Hello both :)

Yes, I'm off there right now - pruning back the strawberries that set their runners one inch apart from one another, so I never get any strawberries!

I've opened an online library book! The system has definitely been set up either by someone who's never used a computer for leisure purposes before, or someone who actively wants the system to fail. I can't think of any other reasons for such a badly designed, counter-intuitive (in a bad way) web experience. I had to download Adobe Digital Editions, and by the time it asked me to authorise my computer with my ID, I was losing the will to live. So I used the button that bypassed the ID :D

And it turns out you can read these books online, without downloading anything at all! Really, they need to be ashamed of themselves :money::)

Will not investigate library system as really need to declutter the pile I've moved next to the bed :) Am staying firm!
Am hoping to get out and do a spot of gardening here too later.
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

I've come indoors already - I really need to take care not to overdo it, or do my back in, grrr. I've stopped the strawberries from strangling the lemon balm (though they've infiltrated the centre of the plant, and I need to get them out of there too), chopped back a few blackberries coming through the trellis from next door, thats enough. Now I've warmed up, the shower, what bliss :)

What a shame about the library website! Sounds positively useless. I suppose there's just not the money to throw at these things sometimes although I suspect it wouldn't take much :(

Hot shower = bliss indeed :j

I have a strange craving for banana cake.

My recent baking activities have mainly been of the biscuit and pastry variety recently, because I can use plain flour with no raising agent, i.e. no sodium.

In fact, when I went on the low sodium diet in the autumn, I just chucked away the self raising flour and the baking power.

BUT - I am beginning to be a bit more relaxed about it, and now allow my self an odd treat here and there. For example, I now allow myself one cheese sandwich a week, as long as the cheese is very thinly sliced. (wow, I know how to live!:rotfl:)

So I'm thinking an odd cake here and there will be acceptable from time to time. I think I'd have to work out the sodium content per slice from the ingredients in the recipe, and see if it'd be within an acceptable range.

A girl can't live without cake forever!

We've also done a little work in the garden today. As the days get longer, the focus gradually turns outward...... but it's still too cold to stay out for long.

    Good luck with the elancing!
