  • Sorry let me clarify, the police driver stopped and then thought I was being ridiculous for not simply changing the tyre myself and instead insisting on getting my breakdown company to come and do it for me.

Still don't see why that would be grounds to complain.
  • Because the police officer was suggesting that I change the tyre myself on the hard shoulder of the M60 motorway in rush hour.

M60 in rush hour, so the traffic must have been whizzing past at speeds of up to 10 miles per hour! :)

Just kidding, that officer was being a bit of a !!!!! IMO.
  • Haha, very true. I also had my suit on so wasn't gonna mess around.

When the chap changed the wheel he had to get his air gun out because it was on so !!!!!!! tight so I wouldn't have got it off in any case.

Ahh yes, sod ruining nice/expensive clothes to change a bloody tyre.

Also whichever tyre shop changed your tyres last, don't use them again, go to one that knows what a torque wrench is.
  • Aye, because I ended up having to have the locking wheelnuts banged off and then replaced.

So what madjay posted cannot be correct and he is simply repeating something he got from Google as another forum makes a similar claim. HA patrols weren't on the motorway in 1982 so I can't see the regs being written to cover them.

I was informed of it on speed awareness course I took

Did they tell you it was reg 14 too?
  • Have done it few times and would dot it again if necessary.
