It is of the breakdown represents a danger to the public. Any breakdown on the hard shoulder in my book represents a serious danger to the public0 -
Tricky one that. I can change a wheel in 5 mins. All depends on the motorway conditions/how busy etc I think. Like any other decision you judge it on the environment you're in.0

Well the powers that be see it differently to you.0 -
Lots of incorrect and daft suggestions in this thread.
- No it's not illegal to change a tyre yourself (common sense would dictate that, especially as cars have the tools AND a spare in the boot)
- Stopping to help someone is not illegal. My granddad was an RAC patrol for many years, and it's perfectly fine to assist others if you wish.
Finally, taken from the original post, how on earth do you propose you drive to the next services if you have a flat or blown out tyre?0 -
Why are Reliant Regal owners offering advice on this? Are they even allowed on the motorway? Even if they are*, they're in no position to give safety advice :rotfl:
* yes, I do know they are before anyone says!0 -

I would have thought getting a puncture is an emergency that warrants stopping on the hard shoulder, however you did accuse me of stopping illegally as a result. Am happy to quote your post for you if you wish.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

Is someone else's puncture an emergency?
I misunderstood your post as you said you couldn't leave the driver stranded. That would suggest you had the option to leave them.0 -
Is someone else's puncture an emergency?
Would be happy to be proved wrong on this, particularly as it is not something I would choose to do, however do feel free to show me where it states this is illegal.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A
