Steps to take if you have been ripped-off by a copy-cat government website

As has been said already, page after page, the other sites are not currently trading illegally.
WE STILL DON'T AGREE WITH THOSE SITES BEING IN EXISTENCE!
But as it stands, they are not illegal. (And no, those other sites aren't breaching any copyright rules, as far as I am aware).0 -
What you are saying is this site is an officially-illegal copycat(hence it got taken down) and the other ones are OK to stay as it is since they aren't breaking any copyrights?. Could you please confirm, powerful_rogue.
Nope, thats not what I said and you know that.
The domain name breached copyright rules by using the term "DVLA" in it. It had nothing at all to do with the actual website or the website content.0 -
Companies House confirmed that it had begun proceedings to get Who4 Limited [runs two copycat websites] struck off its register and the company dissolved

Due to not filing accounts on time.. not because the content was illegal.0 -
Nice partial quote ... which fails completely to say WHY those sites are being closed down. Here's a more relevant quote:How ironic that a controversial website set up to make money from taxpayers keen to file their tax returns in time for the January 31 deadline has just been forced to close because its owners failed to file their accounts in time.
If it were not for the fact that thousands of people have been hoodwinked by the website, paying between £150 and £1,000 for something they thought would cost them nothing, you could even raise a little smile at the irony.
The website is taxreturngateway and the firm behind it is Who4 Limited, based in Sunderland. They are names at which many readers will recoil, having handed over cash to them thinking it was in lieu of tax when it was anything but. It simply went into the pockets of the three directors behind Who4 – Michael Hughes, Stephen Oliver and James Wyatt
Note: I'll say again - WE DO NOT AGREE WITH THESE WEBSITES! But please make factual, contextual quotes. These websites have not been closed down for being "copycats".0 -

You have learned absolutely nothing. You discredit yourself and any point you are trying to make virtually every time your fingers touch your keyboard.0 -
Just when I thought this ridiculous thread, masquerading under the guise of 'advice, had died a death, up pops hpuse with what must be the most stupid post ever.
Hpuse - don't you ever read the content of links that you post?
I'm pleased that this umbrella company has been closed down - that means that at least 3 websites (tax returns, passports, EHIC) have gone but FHS, don't try to pretend it was because their website was illegal.0 -
Gik, bod1467
For your info, it is not about website, it is the trading activity that border-lines Trading standards and copyrights.
Who4 limited is a company that runs the trade - which will be removed.
Here is the full title of the article.Lies go on as the copycat tax website closes - because owners missed deadline to file accounts0 -
