Good afternoon everyone,
Bit late for me, and ive only skimmed the thread, but ((HUGS)) to Crazychik and yours, and a huge WELL DONE to N9eav.
Taplady - glad your mums house is ok, and hope anyone else who is in the 'flooded' areas are ok. It does annoy me tho, that the government are still going on about building more housing when the weather is like this - if they continue to build on fields, they are taking away the natural flood plains and this type of flooding will happen more often, in more areas.
Wel, been busy with the LO this morning and doing a little bit of housework - both the LOs i have here today are now asleep, hense the quick look around MSE!!!
The smell is still there, but i think it is starting to go - so all those who think it could be a dead something are prob right, i just dont know where it is!!!
Nothing else much happening here, so going to have a quick shifty on the comp board before they wake up.
Hope everyone has a lovely day,
Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx0 -
:hello: Hello!
(((hugs))) to Crazychick and family
Taplady - hope you and your Mum are ok - just phoned my brother to check on him and he had to stay home today as roads are closed between him and work but flooding not got to him yet! (((hugs))) to all those affected by the floods.
Catowen - I agree it is just plain daft all this building on the flood plains, no foresight or common sense at all!
N9eav - well done! yes you are right we should all have up to date 1st aid courses, must get mine up to date asap.
Pooky - belated Happy Birthday! :bdaycake:
Aussielass - glad you are recovering from your eventful journey back home and the jetlag, seems strange to have you back in a different timezone!;)
Managed to cook that turkey yesterday and had a lovely roast dinner last night. Tonight will be a turkey curry and the rest will go into the freezer. Tomorrow is veg box day so must do a sweep of the fridge for a leftovers veg soup.
Really pleased as I have come in under target on my grocery challenge and that includes putting money away for the next costco shop. Need to save pennies as am off to the dentist again on Friday (2 hours in the chair!) for more expensive treatment. Still not got the results of the screening but only just 2 weeks gone by. (((hugs))) to JackieO and Frugal - thinking off you and keeping my fingers crossed.
Well off for another :coffee: before I start on the ironing mountain!

Hi...........back from the allotment, picked some more strawberies, but they are slowing down now now, quite a few raspberries though and dug more spuds, had to throw quite a few away again because they were green.
I plaited the garlic and hung it up in the roof of the shed, also tied the onions, we have bought about 3 3/4lbs back with us, their stalks had dried off..........anyone for onion soup????????????? I also emptied the old herb wheels, scrubbed them out and have now refilled them with compost. I am going to Wilko's to get a couple of upright fuschias and some geraniums and replant it, the basket I hung up has big buds on it and the lilies have really put on some growth, they will be out soon.
It was warm when the sun came out, but a chilling breeze was blowing....not many folk up today although the chap on the next allotment called in to check his tomato's and broad beans.......... we have some of our french lettuce ready, so salad for supper..............
DGD arrived safely in Paris, they were off to euro Disney..........we will probably go over and see them next week when she is back....she will be very tired especially as she has to go to school Friday. DD said that DGS is feeling lonely with his sister being away.
OH is now engrossed in doing another jigsaw, Not sure what I am going to do this afternoon, will prepare supper...........might have a little zizz.......and maybe do some sewing...........just thinking I might try and put the shelf unit up in the sitting room.
Yesterday I bought toilet paper from Wilko's 8 for the price of 4, it is perfumed, so when you open the bathroom door, this delicate smell drifts out, its very nice.............
No sign of any rain, we have just watched with horror the effect of the floods in various parts of the country, I do hope all of you who contribute to MSE are ok........................
Take care all of you.............Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -
Hi all
Had new doors put in today so a lot of dust going about, scrubbed and cleaned kitchen, looking like new again:D
Dh has his medical tomorrow after work, so hope that goes fine, he also has to do his first aid refresher sometime, work will pay for that though.
n9eav well done on acting quickly this morning, could have been a lot worse, reminds me to do first aid too, u never know when u may need it.
crazychic so sorry to hear about fil, hope the kids are bearing up, ds1 was only 2 when we lost my dad, they were very close, we had decided that ds1 should see his grandad going downhill instead of his grandad being there full of energy then gone the next. You did the right thing in keeping them off school, hugs.

Hi crazychick. Sorry to hear of your family loss. When a dear friend of mine died I asked at the library if they had any books - my daughter was only 5 at the time - they did, and I found it to be quite helpful. There were a variety of books to suit most ages, all with a story, not factual. Don't know ages of yours, but I've found that children handle these things quite well. I recall being devastated when my Nana died, I was only about 6, but the sadness passed far quicker than it does now I'm older.
Just a thought, gotta go on school run now.Ooh, I've gotta little star! What's that for then?!!0 -
afternoon all,
firstly well done N9eave, hope your neighbour goes on to make a full recovery, i have to do a full day first aid refresher every three years
at last we have sunshine although the wind is a bit cold, feel sorry for everyone affected by the flooding what a mess it must make of peoples houses
i had a nice walk round the village with Lorenzo complete with a bag of jelly babies, saw a black baby rabbit in the field too
am envious of all who are picking berries, ours arent ready yet but looks to be a good crop though
crazychik sorry to hear about your exfil, you did right to keep the little ones at home
VickyA glad you got another house and so handy too

Afternoon all,
Emma (crazychik) Sorry about fil, i wondered why you were at home but only just had time to read the thread as internet been playing up. Hugs to you you know where i am if you need me xxxx
What a day, Father in law had to stay over as couldnt get him through the floods home last night, and then it took me 2 hours to get him back this morning, i was nearly late for picking up dd from nursery, dh had to leave car at work as floods were so bad, need to take his car to garage was ment to be taking it last night but no chance so we are going to wait until about 8 tonight and go and drop it of at his brothers who will then take it in tommorow for him.
I walked to town as heard town centre was inpassable by car only to get there and find out i could have drove, got some mega bargins at boots, jewellrey boxes reduced from a £10 to £1.75 so got 4 !! So some more xmas presents for the pile.
Then caught bus home 90p!!!!! To go all of 1 minute up the road!! Can tell its been a long time since i caught a bus.
Right off to get some jobs done havent got anything done at all in pass two days need to catch up
Hugs everyone

Good Afternoon
Very tired now and got a mega headache.Roll on bed time!
DD went out this a-noon with mum for a walk, and DS stayed at home and did some art. They keep asking ?'s which is understandable. we've had plenty of hugs. They've been strong! They will go back to school tomorrow, but will leave my number for their teachers (just incase).
I managed to get 3 loads of washing done, and finished my baby blanket Ive been crocheting for my babysitter - talking of which - her waters broke this morning and has been in slow labour all day! Its true what they say, one life ends and another begins!
Savoury mince & mash for dinner!
dlb - the bus fair is mega expensive, but if you get off the stop before, its about 40p cheaper!
Its come over really dark here, think we're in for another rain fall. Ive seen some pretty bad pictures of our town and the floods, Ive never seen anything like it. Cars floating, or can just about see the tops of them! Road signs - can just see the top of! Certainly a lot of damage!
Catch you later

Evening everyone :hello:
(((crazychik))) - sorry about your loss.
Two of the boys in my class (Year 4) lost their grandmother yesterday. They were told yesterday after school and today the poor mites didn't know what to do with themselves. However, I think that they were better off being with their friends - and each other (the two boys are cousins), even if they didn't get much done.
I've heard from my new school today. They want me to go in for a "moving up" day next Wednesday. Gosh, I'm dreading it! I don't know why infant children are filling me with dread. I've got to think of fun activities to do now, yet educational at the same time............. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm...
We got our Clubcard converted vouchers through so that we can pay for our hire car on holiday for two weeks! We did that last year for our honeymoon and it seems to soften the blow a little than the whole lot being "real" money.Which reminds me, I need to pay the balance for the first cottage that we'll be staying in............. Not too much, but it would be better if it was £0!!!
Supper tonight is one of our favourites: honey soy salmon with rice. Before we move, I'm going to be running down the freezer to minimum stocks.....
Bye for now
