Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Today. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Good Morning All
I know its only just after mid-night, but I needed to get this off my chest before going to bed and hopefully find some guidance from you all before I speak with the children in the morning! - at 8.30pm last night, my exFIL passed away. I left my phone on charge upstairs, and only received the message a while ago when going to bed. I also had 3 miss calls from ex, (he knows my landline number - so gawd knows why he didn't ring that). Anyway, Im left with breaking the news to the kids. I know it will hit them, and I dont know what to do! Shall I keep them at home or send them to school? Part of me is telling me to let them go, but make the teachers aware, so if they need/want to come home, they can! Im sat on my own now, i need a hug but everyone is in bed!
On the up-side, my Dad also text me, asking me if I want any bits for car boot/ebay, if so he will drop them off on Weds morning before going to work. Could this be the step-forward for us! Contact at last! Or just a way to off-load his rubbish during his house move! Who knows!
Went to see my SIL, had a few tears, she looks so stressed out! So many things to sort out and such little time! Her flight leaves at 11.30am. I wish her a safe journey & a happy new life in Florida! She'd better look after my brother, when he arrives.
Dlb - how was your night with FIL?
Pooky - belated birthday wishes, I hope you had a great day!
Grannybroon - any sign of that baby yet?
Pen-pin - it is hard to show compassion, I understand where your'e coming from, Im like that with my mum. I wont allow myself to get close to her again, we talk, but I can just about tolerate her! (((hugs)))
Still raining here, certainly heard a lot of emergency sirens going off all eveing, had to laugh - someone posted an "offer" ad on freecycle in our area for rain water, saying their barrel was over flowing, bring your buckets and help yourself! Nice to see someone with a sense of humour during this miserable weather
Anyway, catch you later

Hi Crazychick,
I'm not in bed...so <<hugs>> for you. I'm so sorry to hear about your father in law.
Dealing with children when there's a death in the family is always difficult....so many questions and not enough answers. Were they close to their grandfather? If they were they are likely to be upset so perhaps it might be best to keep them off school. On the other hand, school might be a good distraction for them. I'd wait until morning to decide and see how they react and depending on their ages ask them if they feel up to going to school.
I really don't envy you your task tomorrow...although from reading your previous posts I think it was expected. If they've picked up on that it might make it a little bit easier for them.
I'll be thinking of you tomorrow.

Goodmorning Crazychik, Pink & all to follow,
I would wait and see their reaction too Emma and then decide about school. (((hugs))) to you & your family. Well it's rained all night and today so far. Expected to rain most of the week. I can't grumble reallyit hasn't rained much in the last 6 years. I'm sure if I did I would be hung and quartered. Of course I've been very spoilt and enjoyed all your lovely rain too.
We get a lot more rain over here than the rest of the state. We're on Level 2 restrictions while Brisbane is on Level 5. (smug snicker)
I feel a lot better today. My head isn't as fuzzy. I'm just about to tackle upstairs and unpack. I've got downstairs sorted to the way I want it for the time being. You can now open the cupboards without everything falling out.Bless.....DD. I have a gorgeous little stalker atm. He follows every step I take. Whimpers when I go to the loo or shower.
Yes, it's my litte dog.
Pooky Happy Belated Birthday.
Twink Glad to see everyone is enjoying Your biscuits.
PP I don't know the issues you have with your mum but I remember you saying she bought your new 4x4 car for you recently. I think that was incredible and I'm sure if you told her about your illness she would be supportive. She obviously must care for you.
Meanmarie I think I read where you received a trip to Oz. If you want any advise on airlines pm me. Just been there & done that. I will tell you what NOT to do.Thanks also Churchmouse in rubbing salt into the wound.
London City more expensive hey.
Better go and sort out my mess. Have a great day. BYeeeeeeeeeDon't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -

Morning Guys!
Had a good few hrs sleep so feel a little better:D Needle nurse has just been and gone.
Aussielass-My mum paid the debt left on the credit card for the car which was nice of her, but she has been buying my love/effection since I was a child. TBH, I do think its guilt rather than concern for me....nevermind!
WM is going on in a minute. DW needs emtying and the toilet has been cleaned. Floor needs sweeping through today and thats all thats needed really. May clean out a kitchen unit or get some more items on Ebay, but will see how Im feeling later.
OH is doing some gardening if weather doesnt get too wet.
Have a lovely lady coming from the council this afternoon to check all my receipts from the cleaners and carers I have. They pay me direct, then I have to pay them but need receipts etc and make sure they balance out. Hopefully, it is all done ok
I sent some flowers to my auntie this morning. Ive never had chemo, but ive heard it can be quite aggressive in some people. Good Luck Auntie! Thoughts and prayers are with you and the family today.
Well, Ive nattered enough. Hugs to all.

Morning all
The sky is quite bright here in Berkshire today & we've been lucky here, we are very near the Thames & it floods every few years, but not this year as yet.
I've really caught the eBay bug & keep finding stuff to put on there, I just hope some of it sells!
As my work mates know I lost one of my jobs, they have started a sin tin & people have to put money in if they eat one of my cakes, they gave me £15 yesterday towards more cakes.
I'm going to have a quick chat with Thumper & Ogden whilst the sun is shining & then I'm off to work.
Hope everyone has a great day.
Hugs
Hester

Morning. Late today, although I was up quite early.... Some one was banging on the door... I went down and my neighbour was there all a panic. Her husband had stopped breathing!!!!!!!!
I went round and sure enough he was on the sofa, no pulse nothing.
My OH joined me and we did CPR and after about 5 mins the ambulance came. They defibbed him and he started breathing again. They have whisked him off to hospital now, I hope he makes it...
Scary! If you have not done a first aid course GO GET ONE BOOKED NOW!!!!!
I am all of a dither now....
Work later. Rain again, but no flooding here.NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
