I too have been doing the boots sale for years quite by accident to start. I think this site is a lot to do with it as it is advertised in the newsletter. I feel sorry for those who have awful experiences particularly if like me you are buying for christmas and birthdays rather than to sell on.
I think that those of us that have been going for years can usually work the date of the sale out and that we should not contribute to these threads in the lead up to stop the madness that some stores see. Call me mean but I hate greed.
I think ebay has spoiled the bargain hunt - I buy to stock up for Christmas and Birthdays. I can't believe some people have so many friends and family that they need 5 or 10 of one item. - Clearing the shelves is pure greed to make a couple of £ profit. Ruined for everyone else.0 -
re ebay......i only like sanctuary and missed the ultimate glow tin...i just bought on ebay brand new £15 and £5 postage??im utterly baffled(unless they nicked it!!!)...40p listing fee,£1.50 selling fee..was the tin not £12.50 in sale??.plus paypal fee...and a fiver postage ...if i remember last years box was heavy...i sell loads on ebay so good luck to them posting this second class for a fiver....nutters
My thoughts too, Oooooo and the paypal fee. There is no profit to be made!0 -
Wow it's a bit heated on here today...I tend to agree with your post....I got enough smellies at Christmas and I used to work for boots and always stocked up on gift sets but then could never work out who to give them to so most went to charity....if you genuinely will use them or give them as presents good luck to you....but beware spending for the sake of a bargain...it's not a bargain if you don't need them !! Nowt for me!!
exactly! It is only a bargain if its needed. For me I didn't "need" anything, there was a few items I wanted for myself. Friends/family who I would buy this for don't have birthdays until later on in the year, I wouldn't have anywhere to store it until then and I would probably forget so for me to buy it for them isn't a saving because Id end up forgetting I got it and buy extra!:money::rotfl::T0 -

Try the little boots in the W12 shopping centre over the road! I was in there this afternoon and they had a small S+G kit and some No7 mirrors/eyeshadow sets, some Sanctuary, not much of anything else though0 -
People have just started adding items on to local Facebook For Sale sites, just as bad as ebay resellers but worse because they're making loads of profit. I'm all for making a bit of money but it seems wrong to buy a soap & glory set this morning for £6 (that was £20) another that was slightly different for a similar price and then put up a pic of individual items, half from each set ranging from £3 for hand food up to £7 for lotion (the price of one whole set)!! Or is this just what people do?!
It seems a bit underhanded to me. It's not like it's been made into a hamper or something - just bought and sold in it's raw state, all she did was buy it! I felt I had to comment on it and have sparked a bit of a FB row but despite being labelled as 'duplicate xmas presents' it's blatantly somebody who took the bits they didn't like from their bargains this morning and is now selling them on. I think if they had been lower prices it wouldn't bother me so much or the deception that it was duplicate presents. She denied she got them in the sale but too much of a coincidence! I guess it's none of my business really, which I also added to the comment - just winds me up!
Now come the vtech toys!
I can spot it all a mile away because I've been staring at it online or in store for the last day or two!
Rant over:mad:0 -
