mothernerd wrote: »DS1 collected a parcel and a letter on Saturday. last month's parcels were overflowing the chair and onto the spare bed (he and gf went to visit her mum in Greece). Apart from a 3 month emergency 18 months ago, he hasn't lived with me for about six years (previous emergency, when his rented cottage was flooded out) although his furniture stayed about a year longer than he did.
DS2 collects his mail once a month (unless I think a tax letter or hospital appointment might be urgent). He sends parcels here and also asks me to 'sit' waiting for things with a morning or afternoon delivery time. He moved from here last Summer (before DS3 and I moved back in) and is still getting letters at the other house which he left about 3 years ago. Every month I ask him to get them switched over (I only paid for mine and DS3's to be re-directed and all ours are all done).
Ah well, it is nice to see them and catch up.
Did quite a bit of 'inch by inch' yesterday. Tackled washing up, ventured into the pit of doom for the pizza box mountain and other rubbish (+ more hidden pots), put out several loads of washing and 1/2 filled the green bin with prunings and weeds (love having my own supply of blackberries outside the back gate but want them against the walls and the metal fence, not snaking across the floor. Had to retreat to the bed to rest several times but very pleased. Resisted the urge to go back to weeding in the middle of the night when I couldn't sleep.
Not done a lot today but did bring in all the dry washing before it started to pour down and have filled the bin including a black bag from the backs. Plus more paperwork. Would have liked to do more but will keep pushing myself but not 'beating myself up' when I don't do everything on the list (trying not to even look at the list or I might just hide under the bedclothes).
Hi Mothernerd,
Sounds like I should be glad i've only got one, Weather here awful as well, thought I'd have a day in cept had mail to post (do the RM survey) & my nearest PO box empties @ 9am & 7am on SAT:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

Evening folks - Hope you are all having a good week?
Can't believe it's already Weds night... this week is whizzing past again... at least there is a lovely Bank Hol to look forward to
I'm still getting quotes for the work done - got last one coming tomorrow evening - real mixed bag so far - and so not sure yet who I'm going to pick. I do know who I won't be picking though :rotfl: Last nights visit involved a very bolshy chap who talked to me like I'm an idiot  and then ended up quoting me almost double the other prices I had!
Ellie - sorry to hear you don't feel like you've had much in the way of summer weather. Will keep fingers crossed for an Indian summer in September
LB - lovely of the lady at the allotment to give you that stuff. Gets you off to a good start eh? Hope work isn't being too yuck to you
Meandmaboy - you sound excited for your impending holiday - I'm sure you will have great time. Hope the lappy comes early tomorrow so you don't have to wait in all day
Mothernerd - well done on getting bits and bobs done. Be kind to yourself

Thanks BookWorm, Indian summer, Scottish, English...any sort of heat would do...:D
Guess what...it's raining again :rotfl:
I do hope the weekend is nicer.
My inch by inch tidying is more cm by cm today, very slow!
Have spent time trying to arrange a birthday surprise for DS2, which will be nice if it works (and will definitely be a surprise, as it's not his birthday :rotfl:)

Bank holiday?
Enjoy it if you are one of the few that get it!
Roll on September as I get the first Monday in September as it is the local September holiday.A good life is when you assume nothing, do more, need less, smile often, dream big, laugh a lot, and realise how blessed you are.

It seems haven holidays won't let one person book a caravan on their sites! As they price per caravan, not per person, that seems a bit over the top.
I've been messing about on their site, and if you put "one adult, no children" on the booking, a pop up appears saying
"we don't allow single occupancy when booking one of our holidays".
They also don't allow sex offenders, or people who are unruly or anti social...I hadn't really classed singlies in that sort of group before!
So don't bother planning a holiday with them.

Well my family is growing. From Sunday DS3's gf and her two chinchillas will be in residence. Has been anticipated for some time but decided very quickly. DS3 and gf are both 25, chinchillas are nearly two (I think).
Have cleaned the bathroom, dried washing, put another load in, batch cooking and put together all the parts of mum's birthday present. DS3 will not co-operate with room swapping so will have to wait until gf arrives (probably till helpful friend comes to visit, I had already agreed to a sleepover). Wardrobes need to be dipped under the door frame, so definitely not doing it by myself any more.
Hopefully can do more tomorrow and Saturday but need to nip to mum's as well (have enough change in my purse for bus, good job it is month end). Have bought roses but will wait until tomorrow to see if I can arrange them or not (I have a heart shaped piece of oasis) or if I run out of time. I usually get her flowers a few weeks before or after her birthday as she often gets a few arrangements. I only started after my brother died, as he used to buy them - I am still traumatised from the Mother's Day when I was about 8, I saved all my pocket money for about three weeks and bought some anemones only to be told non stop for two days how flowers for mother's day were a rip off and I must not buy them again (did eventually get a grudging thank you).My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -

Personally, I wouldn't be attracted by this kind of holiday without a child in tow. They are clearly trying to attract families.
I wonder if you are two sex offenders, two unruly people etc without kids you can book? CBA to check tbh :rotfl:

ETA - ah... couldn't resist trying it....but yes, of course, it's just us "sad loners" that are excluded0 -

Now....don't get me started on the extra bank hol you Scots enjoy at the start of the year...
Anyway, if it makes you feel better, it's forecast for heavy rain on Monday...naturally...:(

If it makes you feel any better LB...all us scots (ie. me) who work for companies with their head office in England don't get the extra holiday in January, back to work on the 2nd like the rest of you
I'd never heard about parts of the country getting a Monday off in September until just a few years ago, is it quite a central Scotland thing?
