...DS1 and DB are outside repairing (?) a car, at least they're out of the way. Thinking we'll have to have takeaway for tea because the whole kitchen is wet paint. Wondering whether to invite DS2, whilst DS is well behaved, I suspect a getting-bigger-every-day hairy puppy and wet paint may be a bad combination :D

Can't see how wet paint & any animal is a good idea, but a hairy puppy seems like one of the worst combinations.

Doesn't make any difference how I think about it - still can't fathom what a more clock face departure is.

Kids are back, demanding feeding & haemorrhaging stuff everywhere & generally sounding so loud :rotfl: They are pleased to see me though, which is great. I'm glad someone is pleased to see me :D. Having to cook proper food for the first time in almost 10 days - forgotten how long it takes. Cereal is so much easier....
& as for some happy ending I'd rather stay single & thin :D

    .

You're right there :D however I might have been better with the puppy than the humans...
I've worked really hard today, and had a perfect finish on some cupboard doors...
the boys have been in the kitchen (with warnings that the paint's still soft and to be careful) and now there's several places where the paint's chipped off...I just feel defeated in my efforts to make the place look nice.

And really really hoping that the paint hardens up or the place will be a mess within weeks!

I was going to do some more tonight but now I can't be bothered, it will have to be redone :(

Thanks Bigjenny - does explain what they mean. I'm not sure that changing the times from 2 oddly timed buses an hour to one an hour can be seen as an improvement though, however they try & say it. But it did make me focus on the clock face thingy & not on yet another cut, so you could say they've been quite successful.

Oh Ellie that's rubbish . Fingers crossed that the paint does harden - if it doesn't is it worth considering adding a coat of tough varnish? I know it means yet more work, but it may be better in the long run.

I hear you about feeling defeated when trying to keep a place looking presentable. Its so hard if others who share your space aren't as respectful. Kids have trashed their clothes looking for certain things to take away - even though I said it would be quite easy to find X in the top drawer as I'd tidies away clothes, DS still had to empty every drawer & then stuff everything back in the wrong drawers. Suppose I should be glad that he didn't just leave it on his floor - must have seen my face :rotfl:

It doesn't look like I'll be going swimming while were away - can't find my swimmers anywhere. Its taken years to find some that I'm happy to be seen out in (have a scar that I don't like showing, along with being too fat), but they seem to have disappeared. I've been through all my clothes, the loft, everywhere I can think of but I just can't find them :( & doubt I'll get a suitable pair where we are going. No doubt I'll see them the minute I get home, along with my sunnies that never turned up :rotfl:. Weirdly I cannot find my spare pair of contact lenses either - had them when I came home from a few days away earlier this month, thought I'd left them in my wash bag ready for this trip - but they aren't in it. Searched luggage, bathroom, rang B&B - nothing. Felling like I'm in the Twilight Zone here .....

DD managed to blow up her phone charger yesterday (oh, how I've missed the drama :D). I could smell burning from downstairs & as I was halfway to her room I heard "****". The cube extension thing is black in places, as is her phone charger - so that's the end of the world, naturally. Glad the circuit breaker kicked in, but a little scared DD didn't smell it. Just wonder now if I need to get the actual plug socket in the wall checked....

Hope all have a good day - we'll be MIA for a week at least, & if you don't hear from me after then assume I'm still struggling to get home after the train strike
& as for some happy ending I'd rather stay single & thin :D

Have you tried your DS method JKS...empty everything onto the floor? :)

Hope you have a good time away, I know taking kids on holiday alone can be fun but you're still "on duty" aren't you, it's not the total relaxation you get without the kids around.

Fingers crossed that the trains are running, if they do strike I think I'd be tempted to just stay longer :)

    Happy Friday everyone :)

Can't believe it's Friday again already, it's a sign of getting old when the weeks/months pass too quickly, isn't it?

Also can't believe it's August, yet another rainy horrible day.

I locked my keys in the boot of my car today :o
yes, you can all feel free to tell me how daft I was...a combination of too much to carry, and a muddy road that I didn't want to lay anything down on was enough of a distraction to stop me putting the keys safely in my pocket.

However, 10 minutes later, I'd managed to break into my own car and was on my way again :D

(maybe I should be worried at how easy it was?!)

Planning a relaxing weekend, have to work tomorrow, but then not intending to leave the street again :)

Well done on being at one with your criminal side, Ellie. Am impressed!
That is one of my nightmares..it's not as if many of us singlies have someone sitting at home ready to bring the spare key to us!

I'm knackered! Must go to bed, but so glad it is Friday. This has been a week of treading through treacle. Everything I have touched has been bloomin hard work, but where the work itself is not moving forward as quickly as I'd like, I am "meeting" lots of new people around my global company, and enjoying that side of things.

Funny how sitting in my kitchen all day can be strangely so very sociable :rotfl:. The power of technology

I had a strange lunchtime today, though. A young lad knocked on my door to ask me if I had lost one of my chooks. He was very concerned and had been sent to me by his mum, who I chat with when I see her (no idea of her name...can't remember if she has told me, but am too embarassed to ask...just in case...she knows my name, so suspect I should know hers :o ).

Anyway, upshot is, I finally managed to catch stray chook, not one of mine, of course, and she is now safe and sound in the sin bin in my girls' run, where they can't attack her. Very pretty little girl, she is. I have notices up in the village as assume she is someone's pet, but am secretly (or not so secretly now :rotfl:) hoping that no one claims her. I'd be happy to keep her. She's a sweetie :)

Busy weekend ahead, but hope to drop in at some point. Everyone has been very quiet, so hope that's nice things keeping you all busy...? :)

    Have a good'un

Who's calling who the criminal LB? :rotfl:
I'm not the one with a chook hidden on the lottie :rotfl:

Sadly I don't think we have an "all" on this thread any more, it seems very quiet (even allowing for people being off on holiday).

Plenty of readers, but hardly any posters....anyone else feel like joining in and chatting?

LB At least if no one claims the stray then it will have a new home with you. :) You are 'fostering' already!

    I Know! :j

Not quite what I expected, but at least I know what I'm doing with a chook! :rotfl:

But if I have to give her up, it will be practice for letting little people go as their situations change...:(. I have been approved for looking after 5 to 18 year olds

I have both pusses at the vets this morning for boosters and checkups...YBC always ejects smelly stuff  from both ends on car journeys, so not looking forward to the next hour or so :(

I agree with you, Ellie. I have said a couple of times before that this thread will die without people making an effort to post and help support each other. I can only assume that most singlies don't need the support and social contact that I personally find useful, and that's absolutely fine. It's a shame though as sharing experiences, tips and support in a world that is STILL pretty hostile to single people seemed a useful thing to introduce.
