    Morning Singlies :)

I was hoping to get back in last night but fell asleep on the sofa :o when I finally woke up in the early hours, I just crawled up to bed lol

Earlier start today than I hoped for...turns out next door have workmen in to do something in the garden and they are very noisy! :coffee: and a peruse of the internet is helping though ;)

LB - been having a think of other suggestions for you... not sure what ages you may end up having... but if they are sort of 8 upwards and certainly teens...I can imagine they will probably want internet access...have you thought about setting up guest access on the wifi? Or even your computer in case they wanted to use that?

I have to confess it's a suggestion that came loosely via my neighbour as we were talking about her grankids visiting later and she mentioned they always want wifi access on arrival...

Awww at the talk of pets, puppies & kittens. I miss having animals at home :( Those with cats and dogs to hand, please give them all a cuddle from me...

    BW

Just had an idea pop into my head whilst out picking up a few bits n bobs at the shops...homemade playdough... it's easy and inexpensive to make and keeps well in an airtight container when not in use.

My Mum used to make it for me loads when I was younger. I've dug the recipe out in case anyone would like it:

    1 cup cold water
    3 cups flour
    1 cup salt
    2 tablespoons cornflour
    2 teaspoons vegetable oil
    food colouring

Put all the dry ingredients in a bowl, add the oil and food colouring, then slowly add the water to form a dough. Knead well.

If too dry add more water and if too sticky add more flour

    BW :)

It's certainly something to think about but for fostered children (especially), the internet can be a dangerous place, and it is a huge headache for all the professionals involved. It needs a huge amount of thought and, of course, supervision. Having said that, it's also an important tool for keeping in touch these days, as well as a tool for learning.

    It's a complex subject

I will be taking the advice of the social workers on this one, and it will always depend on the circumstances/background of each child.

Personally, though, I think kids are far too dependent on electronics these days, and I will be limiting access, even if it is allowed. For weekend respite, for example, I expect to be able to keep kids entertained in other healthier ways with activities....even if they kick off at first ;).

If they need access for homework, then they can work with me on it to find the info they need, and then it will be switched off again. They may hate that control but if you think through the implications of (for example) their abusers tracking them down through info given out on fb etc, I'd rather keep them safe. That will be my job, let's face it.

As I say, a complex subject, but glad you suggested it. It's made me think hard about it.

    LB xx

P.S. The cupboard clearing is going far too slowly...mainly because I had a nap, and keep wandering off....:rotfl: But starting to get to the point where there is room to store "Man in the Cupboard" in the spare room :rotfl:

Keep the home made play dough in the fridge, especially in hot weather. Made loads for a stall at a May day Fair once (I was a Woodcraft Folk Leader - junior arm of the Co-operative movement so all the games are co-operative). It was a very hot day and it all went very sticky (in little plastic beakers with cling film on top). Luckily the balloons and other things we had weren't affected.

Hope you've all had a more productive Sunday than I've had...I've been so lazy, the sum total of today's activity has been washing dishes and a bit of hoovering, what a waste of a day!

Especially as I've been mega busy for the last 3 weeks and thinking about all the things I still have to do...as soon as I get a spare day what do I do?...sweet FA ! :o

I had plenty I could have been getting on with, and a nice local event I could have gone to (with family already there for company), also need to shop for wallpaper.
I'm sure having no-one here to see my inactivity doesn't help :)

Oh well, I worked hard enough on Saturday to do 2 days (early start, didn't finish until 7pm), and tomorrow's another week!

Now had a bath and fleecy jammies on, and going to watch New Tricks on iplayer...exciting eh?

If you could live one day of your life over again, which day would you choose?

I think sometimes we work ourselves to a standstill. I've really had to push myself to achieve anything this weekend. And what I have achieved feels unsatisfactory somehow. But then again, sorting cupboards was never going to be fun, was it? :(

Ah well...tomorrow is another day even if it is Monday :rotfl:

I have my dinner in the oven, and am going to a nice shower, then PJs on. By then hopefully, my equilibrium will be restored :)

Hope everyone else has had a lovely day

    LB xx

I feel guilty popping in when I havent been around for ages - there is a lot to catch up on.

Since I lost all my sight in my left eye, I have become more tired so when I get home from my voluntary work I tend to fall asleep on the sofa.

Am in the process of having a sort out - this back bedroom is going to be re-decorated and some excess furniture will have to go. Mom is going to paint a small chest of drawers for me - she has her bargainous chalk paint from Al Dee - this small chest will be used for my printer and to store paper and stationery.

Mom is stressed - she is still sorting out dad's estate, she never thought there would be so much paperwork. She has taken to ringing me to say that she is going to unplug the phone on days when she has been hassled with phone calls or on days when she cannot cope with talking to her cousin or anyone else who cares to call.

We are going shopping next weekend plus we plan to do a car boot which means a 4am start for me as we have to be there at 6am (mind you if it is dark at 4am then I won't be driving anywhere).

Best go and take a whole raft of eye drops before I go to bed. Will try and pop in more often. Toodle Pip xx

Good evening :) How's everyone's week going so far?

Mine has been pretty average. Work is still busy, though some of my colleagues are back tomorrow so that should help as won't have to cover for them any longer. Not been sleeping well the last couple of nights...can't see a reason why. Just one of those things I suppose. Been trying to limit internet time in the evening to see if it helps. Doesn't appear to have much effect so far though
