:j we've made it to the weekend :j
Can you tell I'm pleased about it? :D
    :rotfl:

    Just a little bit :rotfl:

My weekends don't start until after work on Saturdays, so I'm not jumping for joy just yet. I have one glass left in a bottle of wine, and I'm saving it for tomorrow night.

Got notification from work today that for the first time ever, Easter Monday is to be a normal working day. There are 4 bank holiday Mondays, and Christmas and New Year allowed...that's the first one of the year to be withdrawn, doesn't look good for the others, does it? I await the next one in May with interest...

If you could live one day of your life over again, which day would you choose?

Had a sort of good day today, I signed on and now have a regular slot and I raised some concerns with one of the managers. I wandered into the garden which needs sorting and discovered that the badgers have started digging holes so I will have to fill them in because I don't want them to start building setts in my garden (not deep enough for them to live in at the mo).

Managed to speak to my dad tonight to wish him happy birthday because he is 80 today - he said it was an effort to get out of the chair to come and speak to me on the phone. I feel bad because I haven't sent him his card nor have I sent mum's and it is her birthday tomorrow. I have the cards but just haven't been able to post them - at least they understand why they have not been sent.

Mum told me that she has ordered some verbenas for my tubs this year which is very kind of her and I didn't know until today that a free shrub came with the order (this was sent first as the other plants are not ready to be dispatched yet). Mum told me that it was a Viburnum Bodiensis (not sure of spelling) and that it was a good sized plant and she has potted it up for me ready to go into the garden. I love free plants.

If the weather is warm tomorrow I will be out in the garden pottering - I might even mow the lawns:eek: Lion poo is going to be put around the areas where foxy and his mates the badgers come into my garden as it will deter them.

Feeling tons better but a bit bunged up and the trotskis are back but other than that feel ok. I might even bake this weekend too. I have also started my Learn to Speak Dutch course with the University of Groningen - it is going quite well.

MITSTM, what's Upcycled Clothing? I thought maybe second hand stuff from charity shops, but then thought, no, because charity shops are in every area.

You could always shop for what you like from home...there's loads of catalogues to look at, and all the main shops do online ordering nowadays.

Upcycled Clothing = an item of clothing made from segments of clothing from other garments. For instance a dress might have a main section from another dress, frills from another item of clothing, sleeves from yet another item of clothing.

Its a very quirky/"creative"/sorta hippy type way of dressing I would describe it as.

I think there is probably a noticeable amount of it here, because of a combination of some other people not wanting to wear forgettable clothing (rather than stylish clothing) on the one hand combined with the fact that there are quite a few creative type people around here and those rainy/windy days in winter and people wondering what to do if the weather is too bad to go out in (so they do a lot of creative craft type activities and then sell it on).

I'm a bit wary of buying clothes by post, because of the different sizings/cuts etc used by different manufacturers. It took a long time for daylight to dawn as to how to figure out what size I "really" am, due to the resizing of clothes and labelling them, on average, as being two sizes smaller a size than they "really" are that has been going on for some years now, ie if label says "Size 16", then its probably really Size 20 and so on. However, it struck me that I still have a leather belt I bought in my 20s (ie 40 years ago) and I can see the marks on it from the various positions I've done it up at. At the moment = I cant do that belt up at all (as the 2 ends JUST touch each other), but I can see that I usually do it up several notches in. I know I used to be Real Size 14 at the waist (so Size 14 in shops has gone from doing belt up several notches in to belt ends just touching). Now I've figured out that approx. 5 lbs weight loss should equal around 1" off my waist that belt will serve to monitor my size.

To see what I mean by Upcycled Clothing, you could try googling for "Images for upcycled clothes" on the one hand or look on Pinterest (with one example being the board "DIY upcycled clothing" done by Donna Pehl) and that will show you what I mean.

This would be a typical example of a coat for instance:

EDIT: Just find an Etsy supplier, for instance, that sells items very similar style to what I see here. Google CouturierFaerieVerte

    Morning all

I'm feeling much refreshed after a lovely lie in :)

I wanted to get your thoughts on something. I live in a semi detached house and the neighbours moved out last year and the place is up for rent. Someone moved in last October and they put up a washing line using my fence post. They didn't ask which annoyed me somewhat (as I prob would have said yes if they had) although I didn't say anything as wanted to try and be nice.

Those tenants have moved out and the house is up for let again. I was thinking about removing the washing line from my fence post before someone else moves in.

I wondered what comments you may have on it?

Maybe those tenants thought it was a jointly-owned fence post, rather than realising it was yours (but deciding to go ahead anyway)? Without seeing the set-up I cant tell whether they might have thought that?

If you don't want it there, then yep...just nip out and remove it.

    Thanks both :)

I have been out and untied the end that was on my side. I just hope the agent or a new tenant doesn't decide to rehang it since the other end is still tied up. Although if they ask first..I would definitely be less bothered. Guess will have to wait and see
