Get her a cardboard box to chew instead LB. One of mine chews paper and like a nice box. The other one eats fleece and chews sponge and has her own pan scourer, sigh.
Horace, that's an utter disgrace, it truly is!0 -

Honestly, she has a million things to chew - she just likes opening parcels. When I bring shopping in, she is high as a kite, and I can't leave her alone with it, because she opens everything - bags of pasta, carrots etc...she just loves opening things :rotfl:
I'll wrap her some bits & pieces for C and she can open them...

After spending the entire day behaving itself my loo has decided to become blocked again on the stroke of 5, just when I don't have enough time to get to the shops to buy some nasty chemicals
I even thought about getting a bottle of something in for the next time it may happen (thinking how organised I'd be) but decided against it as I already had too much shopping to carry home anyway, & I didn't want to strain my back anymore than necessary.
So now after more gruesome manual handling, my back is in absolute agony (& hoping that £300 + I've spent at the osteopath so far hasn't been entirely in vain) & I have no idea if the darn thing will flush again. At the moment there is some bicarb & vinegar bubbling away which will be flushed through with hot water at height....
Next will be some enzymatic cleaner left overnight - its ideally for kitchen waste pipes but I can't see it will do any harm to the loo.
After that I have some plumbers only sulfuric acid but that is hideously corrosive & I may wimp out of using that as I'm worried it may melt some of the joins
Really don't want to have to call out a plumber & can't check the outside drain as some idiot (not me) built a patio over the inspection thingy
I am so fed up with stuff just going wrong all the time.
Even Royal Mail seem to have it in for me this week - I've posted 2 signed for letters from different post offices at different times, yet both seem to be lost in the system & are still showing as undelivered over a week later - what are the odds of both my letters going missing?
I'm toying with the idea of becoming an alcoholic &/or having a full on break down as that seems like my only option to get some flippin' support :rotfl:
[Obviously that's a joke & not meant to offend anyone - I know how "helpful" the "support" is for those genuinely in such positions, so I shouldn't joke about it really. Just letting off steam.....]
Had a lecture from an acquaintance when I said I really didn't have the time to spend a day clearing out paperwork in a church (that I don't even go to). Apparently I need to spend more time helping others & not be so selfish with my time.
I really don't know how I didn't kill her there & then.
I hope you are all having a better w/e than me.
Hugs to all.& as for some happy ending I'd rather stay single & thin

May I suggest trying a floor mop with a bin bag tied around the mop head, and use that as a plunger.

Have you got a bottle of coke JKS - that stuff is usually good for unblocking things. Wouldn't want you to spring your joints by chucking down the sulphuric acid either.
Do you use Cushelle loo paper? The reason I ask is that it is a b*gga to use as it does not dissolve and I know that my aunt managed to block her loo after using it. I used to use it but now its usage has been banned by my mum (she no longer uses it either) so I resort to using Andrex or whatever I can get on offer but not Cushelle.0 -
Do you have emergency cover on your household insurance, JKS, ?
Might be worth taking a look in case you can get their help to get an emergency plumber out.
I didn't realise there was cover like that until a month ago, and managed to get it free (along with legal cover in case I need it with my employer), so check your policy just in case.
Hope you don't need it though....

hth.
Thanks Badrick - I did see that method on t'internet & thought it would be worth doing......except would you like to guess what I chucked out on Thursday (yep, the day before the plumbing disaster)? My old string head mopas I had one of the squeezey sponge types as a replacement - which will be no use whatsoever as an emergency plunger

Only use really cheap loo roll here for that very reason, although we do have baby wipes for taking off makeup/cleaning the bathroom floor, so DD could have put one down there accidentally....
Don't keep coke since it gets drunk too quickly here but I may try a bottle of cheap stuff later as I need to go into town anyway. Thanks for that, hadn't thought about it.LavenderBees wrote: »Do you have emergency cover on your household insurance, JKS, ?

I do have some type of cover, but when I spoke to a plumber he reckoned it wasn't a real emergency, since the loo flushes a lot of the time when it just has water in the bowl; the water level stays where it should even if it sounds a bit gluggy. It seems to be solids that it can't cope with sometimes - so I don't want to use the home insurance to call a plumber out if the plumber then says it isn't an emergency. Which is probably what will happen given my appalling run of bad luck :rotfl:
So I'm off to get a big plunger & see if that improves things (its a set that has a fitting for sinks too, so I think I'd like one in the house ready for the next [STRIKE]disaster[/STRIKE] exciting installment of DIY fun.
Coke will be next, then some caustic soda (not together).
When I've sorted all that, its time to tackle homework with kids, sort out laundry & ironing & then try & investigate why my fridge has suddenly decided to stop being cold
Have adjusted the thermostat in it - not that causing the problem, so I'm guessing it may just have died as it is rather old. Short of turning it off & turning it back on again I'm not sure what to do, & if its anything that I need to do around the back I don't think my back is up to moving it today.
Another fun w/e chez JKS - where's my knight in shining armour got to this time? He's very unreliable.....& as for some happy ending I'd rather stay single & thin

Mum2one, well done for the whistle-blowing. The way you were treated is shocking, and often bad publicity is the only way to get things changed.
JKS, I'm so sorry to hear that your catalogue of woes continues. You really are having a tough time of it. Re: your blocking loo, try to avoid putting any hot water in it - according to my plumber, loos are not made of the same heat-withstanding porcelain as basins, so you could crack it (just what you need - not!). The problem couldn't be caused by tree roots growing into the drain, could it? If so, you might be able to claim on your house insurance?
MITSTM, I think you were wise not to sweep water out of your difficult neighbour's property. She's given you so much hassle already, that she would probably see your kindly gesture as "trespassing" or something.
Horace, how disappointing that your course was based on a completely false promise of potential work. That's very unfair, and a waste of everyone's time. But I think LavenderBees is right - there's probably something useful which you gained from it, which could give you the edge over another candidate in the future. Here's hoping.e cineribus resurgam("From the ashes I shall arise.")0 -
Thanks for your wise words - I was contacted this afternoon as it appears that there are some vacancies after all and I have an interview tomorrow afternoon at 1pm.0
