Just want to scream, shout and stomp my feet like a toddler:mad: I am so angry yet fed up and despondent at the same time. I am wondering why I did that MnS training last week and why I was told only on Monday that I was being put forward for interview for a girl to ring me (she sounded as though she was chewing cud) from the work programme to tell me that there were no jobs. The only MnS seasonal jobs that are available are in Sutton Coldfield and The Fort which I cannot get to and certainly not be there for a 7am start:mad: It turns out that the jobs don't exist and probably never existed in the first place. It makes me so mad.

Sorry for ranting - just had to get it off my chest.

I have calmed down a bit and instead contacted the work programme office where I did my training and where I had the mock interview on Monday. They seemed totally surprised when I said there were no jobs and most likely there had never been any jobs and what were they going to do about it? It is totally wrong that they gave everyone false hope and told us about all the jobs that did not actually exist. I will also be saying something to the jobcentre when I sign on next week.

    Whew....rain...rain and some more rain....

Oh boy...I'm in Wales and there's one thing we aint ever short of here....and that's rain.

A bit of very mild flooding stuff later and I've swept out my garden, been and checked out another neighbours garden with intention of just sweeping it out for them if it looked like it needed it. Then spotted Thieving Neighbours garden (aka that blimmin' squatter who is sitting there trying to steal part of my garden) and it could do with a bit of sweeping out. Had to remind myself firmly that they don't deserve any help from me in the circumstances/chances are very low (make that zilch then....) they will have a Road to Damascus conscience-awakening session about my garden even if I did and have walked back in again just leaving it...

It aint nice when you're a naturally helpful sort to just have to "leave things to stew".....but shrugged shoulders and have left it be (which goes right against all my instincts to just plough on in there and help a total stranger regardless). Sad about that...but it is what it is....and I cant help them out can I? Never was any good at "turning the other cheek".
  • ....it does. Literally.

I have just spent 40 minutes unclogging the loo  & have had my hands in all sorts of unmentionables (thank goodness for decent long rubber gloves). I even made an emergency plastic apron out of a charity collection bag, although that turned out to be overkill as I didn't get splashed :rotfl:

T'internet is my friend & told me what to do, & normal flushing has been resumed.

Yes I am proud of myself that I could sort it out without either a) a man & b) a plumber - but what I'd really, really like is for someone to just stop giving me all this shoite to deal with & let me have a break.

However DD now thinks I'm not completely useless, so I suppose that should be reward enough. She did look horrified when I explained what I'd have to do :rotfl:

The weekend is now starting & I'm off to pour a well deserved glass of red. Nite all!
& as for some happy ending I'd rather stay single & thin :D

That is absolutley awful, esp as they had you for the week, to me that is a serious training programme.
makes you wonder who actually arranges all this, sure its targets to be met, but not fair to those who attend.

Well, you know how smug I was that I literally had C all wrapped up?...I discovered this morning that Little-Miss-Millie-Mops has spent this week "unwrapping" them.....she has tried and spat out (thank goodness as it's poisonous to her) chocolate, but explored all the others, presumably for edibles.......and none of the pressies were hers!

    :rotfl:

I've had words with Young Boy Cat as he was "in charge" :rotfl:, but he's just given me a big kiss, and gone to bag the most comfy spot on the bed for a snooze.

It's like having teenagers, honestly :o

The nurses will love you forever and a day for whistleblowing about the lateness of the transport :A
My daughter is a nurse and works in treatment rooms. Her hours are 8am-6.30pm. She often has to stay until 8.30/9pm because a patient is waiting for transport to be taken home. (they are often elderly and alone with no family).
Additionally, this has a knock on effect at home. Her boys are just teenagers and get in from school and are fine on their own until she usually gets in. But when she's delayed, I then have to go round and sort them out dinner etc and stay until she gets in at about 9pm.
It's not an occasional mistake from the transport company either!

.................and to top it all, because of cutbacks she doesn't get paid any extra:eek:

Goodness those are unfair conditions to be working under, & all so avoidable if the travel company just did their job properly. What do you think would happen to those patients left waiting if your DD went home at the end of her contracted day? Can the travel company not provide a staff member to sit with these patients while they wait - that would cost the company & that might make them get their ducks in a row? Not sure what type/size of hospital your DD works in. but I can't see why that idea wouldn't work in some of the larger ones.

I feel for her - when I worked for the NHS it seemed to be an unwritten rule that you just worked until the work was done, but didn't get paid any extra for it or get the majority of the time back. I'm sure like most employees I worked at least an extra month/year & I wasn't very high up for most of the time. I can only imagine its got a lot worse in recent times.

Will be watching this thread for a definite "its in the papers" comment if you have time - my nearest shop is a 30 min round trip but I will buy one on the day.

Thanks for the tip about selection boxes - still give my 2 boxes each year. I'm trying to decide if I want to do the Lego advent calendars this year - they were very popular, but they're soooo expensive & we have so much Lego I think we could build a small shed in the garden :rotfl:

Oh LB - what a pain. Are any of the gifts salvageable? Cats are masters at getting into things they shouldn't - Spike can snaffle food in a flash & climb into anything, but can't seem to open a partially open door with his paw :D

Happy to swap my teenagers for your cats if you want to see which is more work?

Horace - that is rubbish about the M&S "jobs" You have to wonder when Call Me Dave & his gang are going to realise that there simply aren't enough jobs out there, & that forcing people to waste their times on a lot of these schemes are pointless. Although I suppose if these schemes didn't exist there would be far more people out of work as it does keep the wheel spinning.... I've no idea what the answer is, but this seems so cruel - if I'd been in the same position I'd been very upset & angry.

Next time I go to B'ham I shall go inside the library for a look - probably won't be for another 5 years though :rotfl:

Thanks goodness its the w/e :j

What a horrible wet day - bored with rain now.

This morning I went to slimming club as I have been given 12 weeks (in reality 14 weeks as I am allowed 2 weeks holiday) by my GP - this group is a lot more fun than the one I used to go to plus they explained everything and have even ordered me a large print book so that I don't have to squint. I am not as heavy as I used to be - alright I have lost 1lb but it is better than nowt. Thankfully I am not being pushed in the direction of Mugshots either.

I have a plan with the work programme and the none existent M&S jobs - I am going to write to the Minister for the DWP and I am going to write to the Chief Executive of M&S. It is one big con and I, for one, am sick of it!

I have taken a lump of beef out of the freezer to have for dinner tomorrow. Must remember not to buy any carbonara sauce that is on date because even if you freeze it, it doesn't keep - it made me bad last night.

Email received from the TV licensing people to say they have renewed my licence (I pay monthly) - so it expires at the end of November 2015. If I could afford to pay it in one go I would but I can't. TV is my only luxury as I do not smoke or drink.

Re hospital travel etc, I'm not defending this particular situation or this particular company, but i can see that this must generally be a logisitical nightmare to try to resolve - it just needs roadworks, an overrun appointment time on a couple of different departments etc etc etc etc and you have a backlog of patients needing transporting. I doubt anyone can do right for doing wrong :(

As for the NHS, I only have the utmost praise and heartfelt thanks for the work the NHS staff do. Thank god we have them :T.

Referring back to a post a while ago, personally, I have no problem with my GP checking with me if my medication is working or if we should look at something different. It shows he's caring for me, and also making sure he isn't spending my tax money unnecessarily. Maybe I'm lucky to have the 2nd best GP in the UK (according to some survey or other - well done, Dr Nick! :T), but irrespective, we all (that's staff and patients) need to look after the NHS.

Horace it isn't good that there are no jobs, a crying shame to be honest, and your expectations should have been managed better but hopefully you got some positives from the course that can be applied elsewhere? A week long course must have given you some new skills/refreshed others. Imho, the best way to channel your anger and disappointment is to use them. Good luck!

JKS ....em, no, I'll stick with my teenage pusses, but thanks SO much for your kind offer anyway. :rotfl:

The gifts are salvagable - the choc thing, I simply cut the chewed off bit, and rewrapped it.

    :D

    Joking,......honest....... I ate it! :T

The rest, I am just going to put extra paper on them. The friends who are getting the pressies will have a laugh when they see the chewed paper underneath :rotfl:

I caught LMMM red-pawed just a few seconds ago. It's obviously her newest trick :)
