using my Be-Ro cook book (best 84p ever spent) made some buttercream for the first time in my life.

I have a Be-Ro book because my Mum wouldn't let me have her copy when I left home. It's my go to cook book for all things cakes/biscuits. :T

Was asked a daft question by the work programme peeps today - about a possible interview next week (in an area of Birmingham where I will be honest I am scared to visit)

Where is it you are scared of? I go into Bham regularly for work and have never felt unsafe

Alas the cake wasn't ready for the meeting but it was afterwards - I managed to cut it in half (I used the loaf tin to make it) and spooned sour cherry conserve on the base and then using my Be-Ro cook book (best 84p ever spent) made some buttercream for the first time in my life. Smeared the buttercream over the other half of the cake and put the lid on. The cake is low fat which is cool.

I have a Be-Ro cookbook I bought quite a while back now and although I hardly use it, my DD loves it and uses it all the time when she decides to bake. I prefer one I was given by a neighbour when I was a little girl, called "look & cook". I loved it so much I bought another book in the series called "plan & cook". I think there are more in the collection along the homemaking trend, but they are very very hard to find. :(

Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!
  • I thinks its just been the proverbial straw - I'm so fed up with having to deal with stuff with no support

I can sympathise entirely with that sentiment. But don't you find that, if you do have a partner, that is the very moment that he loses his job/confesses he's having an affair/gets himself arrested/drives his car off a cliff/walks out on you/gets into financial difficulties/springs on you something awful from his past/moves his elderly auntie into your spare room/breaks both legs/joins a cult/sets fire to the kitchen, or otherwise makes things ten times worse?

Or am I being too cynical here?!? ;)

Oh I love this list...I do hope you haven't experienced them all personally Winter Phoenix!

And in some cases you are absolutely right...my last partner, he chose when my mother was in hospital (and we weren't sure if she would survive) to start playing silly bu**ers, lying and generally making life miserable as a prelude to backing out of the relationship. I was already stressed, and instead of supporting me, he made things a thousand times worse.

JKS, just keep plodding away, you can do it!

Lavender Bees, what a stressful time you're having, poor wee cats, hope they're continuing to be on the mend. Is it awful of me that I laughed when I read about LMMM sneezing on your dinner, sorry :)

If you could live one day of your life over again, which day would you choose?
  • BookWorm - I know exactly what you mean about feeling guilty being off work during the week.

So, I was persuaded to get a man in to look at the dead washer dryer as it obviously could be fixed. £30 charged to tell me it was dead and I need a new one. Seriously hacked off just now. Kitchen cupboards emptied and all over the counter (why is the socket behind the cupboard under the sink?!), kickboard now residing in another room, washer dryer sitting in the middle of the kitchen. Oh well, will now have to press the "buy it now" button to get a new one, even though I can't really afford it just now.

LavenderBees - Trust your kitties are still getting better. I also (sorry!) laughed at your sneezed-on meal.

RPP - for the trauma with the washing machine. Not what you need at all eh

My electrician chap arrived on time, was friendly and chatty and did a lovely job. Very pleased.

I feel like I can relax now. Have in fact been very naughty and had a takeaway :D

:rotfl: No, I don't mind at all. It made me laugh too. Especially when, immediately after sneezing, she looked up at me, and smiled so sweetly, as she often does. :rotfl:

But both she and YBC are now almost fit and healthy again, thank goodness...she is back to climbing the curtains, and YBC is back to trying to keep out of her mad way :rotfl:. Normality. I love it!

Big hug for your problem, too. Baby steps, remember. Start at the start, and keep plugging away at it. But also do give serious consideration to a house clearance firm, maybe do some of your own, and then get them in to finish it.

    LB xx

:rotfl: Love this list, but you've missed the obvious one - he just cba to support you :rotfl:
