mum2one, so sorry that things weren't put in place properly before your dad's discharge. Sounds like you're having to deal with a lot of things that should have been put in place before he came home, which adds to the stress for everyone. At least you're getting things sorted, and hopefully the nurses and GP will be able to tell you what other help is available. Your dad is lucky to have a daughter like you (even if he doesn't tell you, he knows). Don't give up (I know, easier said than done but if you need one I can send you a brick wall to bang your head on). Take care xx0

Hello peeps - aged old crone reporting here. I think I overdid the gardening as I can barely move.
Got up early, thought that I would potter a bit outside and do a bit more pruning (neighbour complaining that my bushes overhang her garden) and that l would visit my parents this afternoon. That didn't happen because I decided to mow the lawns front and back as well as cut the edges front and back. Hand weeded the front garden too - now I feel decrepit. At least my green waste bin is full to the brim and is currently down on the roadside awaiting collection tomorrow.
Washed up too - caught up with stuff that I hadn't done. I also decided on having a bit of a clear out so two black bin bags are sitting at the side of the road.
BTW - don't do gardening in a skirt as the ants run up your leg and bite you.0 -

 Thanks for that warning Horace, that doesn't sound pleasant at all!
It may sound boring, but I've had a lovely day. Went for a walk along the coast before the sun disappeared, met up with family, ate cake (meant to be dieting, oops) and just generally had a very relaxing day.
Nice to have a break from family problems at home, I suppose a downside of being a single parent is that you're the only one the children have to turn to when they need help.
I was quite surprised last week when my DS told me he had been to visit his fathers' grave. I used to take them when they were children, but hadn't realised that he still went, he was only 3 when his father died, so it's been a long time.
He has a photo of his father on display in his lounge, I teased him that he didn't have a photo of his mother (me!) on display...he said when I'm dead he'll put a photo up :rotfl:

I have red ants in my front lawn - nasty little biters.
Just watching next door's daughter back from Turkey and it is gone 9.30 and the lazy moo is still in her dressing gown and hanging washing on the line (I have never seen anything take so long). She is quite bolshy and the last time she was here, she shouted at me (well perhaps instead of living abroad she should be here looking after her parents!).
I am off out this morning as I am visiting the local arts project - I want to pick their brains about arts funding and as one of the artists used to work for the arts council she is going to tell me how to go about applying. Well I may as well use them to get information. It is a lovely day so I will walk there and back.
Glorious day today, so far this morning I have renewed my library books online (still reading one of them), I cancelled a book I had reserved, well - they didn't let me know it has arrived and I also discovered it would cost me 75p, they can whistle. What a ruddy cheek wanting to charge to reserve books.0 -
I went to the meeting with the arts project people - they have offered their expertise and have agreed to work in an advisory capacity and help with any funding bids. I felt quite grown up because I was taken to the coffee shop next door for a coffee - so I had a latte (I wasn't paying). Picked up an idea for making money too - the coffee shop had a very large jar on the counter which was filled with water and there was a lemon floating in it - if you could balance a 20p on the lemon you could 'win' a free drink, I was thinking we could do something similar and offer something free when we have a fete next year.
I wandered past the new deli/diner and into Sainsbury's - I had a look at their room smellies and noticed that my favourite fragrance of candle etc was half price so I bought a reed diffuser. Mum bought me a candle this year and last year I bought a mahoosive candle in the sale. I also visited the whoopsie shelf and picked up some ready meals (chicken/bacon & pasta as well as tomato & mozzarella pasta) for days when I don't feel like cooking. I also bought a packet of pudding rice for £1.
I was going to go to mum's and just turn up but I chickened out and instead watched the Tour of Britain cycle race, it was a lovely day for a ride out and Conwy Castle looked fab as did The Great Orme.0 -
Horace - I caught a bit of the race - saw them go through Conwy, its a beautiful part of the country xxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0

It's not muscles involved, its brainpower (a much better bet imo). When you're offered advice from A Damn Good Brain it counts as manna from heaven.
I'm not stupid and I thought I'd got things worked out right and its so reassuring that DGB thinks I have and I can cope with them calling me naïve in the process (as I was..:o). Hands up = guilty as charged for naivety (at my age I really should know better and I thought I was a cynic and not likely to miss attempted bamboozling)....
Aha - definately want to borrow her/him then please. I have enough muscles to clout an offensive person with a baseball bat, but I can't help wondering if there's a better way (even if it is less therapeutic)
BTW - don't do gardening in a skirt as the ants run up your leg and bite you.
I can't honestly remember when I last wore a skirt/dress - must be years....
I have joined in with the gardening as it was garden waste collection day today, so yesterday I started Project Buddleia . I've cleared a lot of the brown flower heads, leaving the still flowering ones for the butterflies & was somewhat shocked at how thick the main stem (trunk!) is. Got rid of a third of it & the bin was full to bursting, so it will be a project. I know I've only myself to blame, as you all told me to deal with it
Think somebody mentioned some poison to inject into the stem - anyone know what its called?
Back off to the salt mine - stupidly busy & it looks like I won't be getting my day off this week again
Hope all have a less frantic day than I will& as for some happy ending I'd rather stay single & thin

JKS good luck conquering your buddleia
. Hope your work settles down soon.
I had to cut my weekend away short by a day and come home yesterday (boring work stuff) so I was a little disappointed with that.
And coming home to my messy and unfinished house was a real downer! I've been too busy to get everything done on my own this summer...and I'm also a bit of a procrastinator, I work much better to a deadline, and there's no deadline with housework, it's very open ended, isn't it?
Not working today, so a day trying to get everything into some sort of order.

Hello peeps
felt quite productive today - I have stripped the bed and all the bedding is now washed and on the line. I am not long back from the hairdressers (I had my roots done as well as a cut and finish) - mum owes me £25 now. I had a wolf whistle on my way home too so I was well impressed with that:D Mum reminded me last night that there are several birthdays in the family this week well I found a card in my collection to send and as I have no other suitable cards I had to nip into Sainsbury's as it close to the college where I have my hair done - managed to buy 3 cards for £4.97.
I also rummaged in the car and found my road atlas because I wanted to be sure on the map where the interview is being held and tomorrow I will go for a recce.
Best scoot as I am hungry - need lunch (at gone 3pm).0 -
Thanks for asking Mtstm, I am fine, just busy with work, it's suddenly manic, plus I'm trying not to be on the internet so much ()...
The weather here is amazing, I'm walking around in sleeveless topsand windows are open.
Currently trying to stay positive, have enquired about volunteering (again), I do try but things never come off, and not my fault so hopeful this will be more productive. It's a nationwide scheme to befriend an older person (older than me even :rotfl:), plus the Samaritans, waiting to hear from them.
Trying to eat healthily too, not sure if I'm on Paleo, 5:2 or vegan...:rotfl:...decided I hate soya milk.
Oh, probably have decided on Italian holiday, was wavering between Italy and Cyprus...but want to see Italy so much (will be next year now) so it will be an exhausting but hopefully fab trip of 14 days. Hence the eating healthily now...;)
On the DD front, not good, but I'm trying not to dwell on it. Immersing myself in "stuff" helps.
My Boy cat is doing well on his weight loss plan!Looking sleek as a seal. He is so much like S!mon's cat if you've ever watched the videos, esp the one where the cat is trying to wake S!mon up...well My Boy cat jumps on me from a height too (he's around the 6 kilo mark), and then acts as if it wasn't him!
Books....mmmh...I've started Anna Karenina, and love it, didn't think I would after attempting War and Peace, but different style of writing. Also reading an easy read by Peter Lovesey.0
