All housework banned. Only eating treats with feet up allowed. Anyone with me on this one?? I think November 23rd is looking like it will be a wet cold Sunday ... :rotfl:
And as for the cordless screw driver, please buy one, master the use of it, and then come and do my wee jobs :T. Who needs a man in the cupboard when you have a tooled up Calicocat?? :rotfl:

I feel one a month may well be in order if truth be told, especially now the winter is drawing in and the onesies may be lurking in the background.
Edit....my final take on Hen Party is.....go, for one night......you are a spring chicken compared to some of us on here....and you never know, you might have a blast!!
Do what Byatt said and meet up prior and get a sniff of the situation kiddo.xYep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0 -

Welcome to all the newbies.
An official Singlies PJ day sounds good to me. I shall pencil November 23rd into my calendar
I have a cordless screwdriver but have no idea where the charger for it is - hopefully I will unearth it during my decluttering missions.
Re the hen do, I've had my own do and have attended a good many. I can't say I found them to be terribly enjoyable, and would happily turn down an invitation to one from someone who I was not really close to. I'd rather spend the money on a holiday I'd enjoy instead. However, the problem with the one BW has been invited to is that it is next year May, so the hen has given plenty of notice and effectively nips the usual excuses in the bud such as having something else already booked for that weekend unless you really do and already know about it, or not enough funds as there is plenty enough time to save if you really wanted to go. I think perhaps the only way out would be to tell her that you are not really comfortable in that sort of social environment, so as much as you wish her well and would like to celebrate her upcoming marriage with her, you would be happier if the two of you went out for a coffee or dinner instead.Smiles are as perfect a gift as hugs...

sorry that the hen do question seems to have taken over.
I really do appreciate all the comments though.
One thing I forgot to say yesterday - the hen isn't looking after the do at all. She picked the location and is leaving the rest to a friend. I therefore can't ask her any questions as she won't know anyway!
Ok enough from me. Will keep pondering.
Have a good day all
ETA - mum2one - positive news re: your Dad. All steps however small are good.0 -
Good news about your Dad, Mum2One, anything that helps him be comfortable is to be welcomed. It's an awful strain on you all, so big hug!!
And don't be daft, BW, that's what the thread is for. To help us Singlies ponder the bigger questions of life with support and different opinions that we don't have in real life.
Ok...so I have two followers for Nov 23rd celebration of Sloth Day...am sure more will follow as we all try to avoid Xmas shopping , and relax into our Onesies :rotfl:
Have a good day,All. Is it really only Tuesday? It's been a loooonnnnggg week already

...and the one slight snag thought to PJ days is to be careful about that whilst workmen are still a feature in your life. There was me early (well...fairly early..:o) of a morning in my dressing gown and a workman turned up unexpectedly.
I'm not sure a nearby neighbour has recovered from the sight of me (in said dressing gown) and workman (bare-chested and, for all she could see sans all other clothing as well) outside my house and the look on her face reminded me this isn't quite such a "liberal" area as I've moved from...ahem...and she had jumped to all the wrong conclusions I think...
I haven't got round to having another one of our mini-conversations yet (giving me the opportunity to explain) or whether there would still be "opinions" about it anyway...:rotfl:.
Mind you...perhaps I should take it as a compliment....that I am still seen as a "woman" iyswim....rather than an Older Invisible who only has memories of "All That" these days...0 -
Hi everyone
Pretty sure I qualify as a singlie as I only have one grown up DS left at home...so on my own but still having to cook for DS (not a fan of housework, but mostly don't like cooking!)
Re: petrol pump.....for some odd reason I never trusted it would reach, and that I was going to look like some 'idiot female driver'..so avoided it for years....lol.
Oh...and a cordless screwdriver is on my 'want' list too...all DIY blokies seem to have one...and I wanna get tooled up.
Been lurking for a little while, but had to come out of lurkdom to comment on the petrol pump discussion...
am I the only one who DID look like some "idiot female driver"?
I tried one day to stretch the hose over and it didn't reach, standing there trying to pull it further out and it was fully extended...felt really stupid having to reverse out of the space and queue at another pump.
The same petrol station (after many years of free-for-all queuing) introduced a one way system without telling me...yes, I was the one trying to get in the "out" gate and couldn't get in the queue...
I now fill up at a station which has signs up saying "extra long hoses, use both sides"...I like the reassurance that they've checked they're long enough
Oh, and I also own a cordless screwdriver, I bought it when I had a load of kitchen cabinets to build
I think a "Singlies Celebration of Slothdom kind of PJ day" is a marvellous idea (though I'm not in the habit of wearing PJs during the day, can guarantee that would be when I had unexpected visitors!)
If you could live one day of your life over again, which day would you choose?0 -

Hello Ellie,
Welcome to the singlie house.
A singlie isn't someone without children at home, but rather someone without a significant other
Many of us singlies, including myself, have school aged children still living at home.Smiles are as perfect a gift as hugs...

I'm not a huge fan of Taylor Swift...but here's an anthem for dancing!

I'm bopping around the room! :rotfl:
Mum2one, so glad your dad is improving, it is such a worrying time for you, so lots of dodgy hugs.
BW, you haven't taken over, it's been good to think and talk about these things.
Ellie, you've hit the nail on the head about petrol hoses, I do recall in the dim and distant past where they didn't stretch and having to move the car.
I have a cordless screwdriver, it's what I used to put the flat pack together, and love it! Such a time saver especially when I make a mistake, as it has reverse on it.
Nov 23rd sounds good for the Sloth Day, I luvs Sloths...:)
edit, BW, even though it's hen's friend organising it, I think you should be able to meet/contact said friend to find out more. I think you have every right to know more about it regarding costs.
another edit, SpringDreams just noticed your avators are dancing to Talor Swift! :rotfl:0
