Morning All
After being MIA for last week due to a busy holiday with DD & DS I'm back to reality
The break was fab & kids got on with each other most of the time (although now DS is almost 12 he can do far more stuff on his own, so DD doesn't need to babysit him anymore while swimming etc.), we ate like pigs (no cooking for an entire week for me :j) & even though we got a bit wet sometimes, the weather was grand most of the time. DS spent days crabbing on the beach, DD read lots & kept her headphones in most of the time (she's 14) & I got to read an entire book.
Now I've done 3 loads of laundry & kids are asking whats for lunch & I have no idea :rotfl:
Hope all are well - will try & catch up later today.& as for some happy ending I'd rather stay single & thin

Hi all
Sloth day has been pencilled into my diary - I probably won't be in PJs either but I will be wearing something warm and snuggly.
Good news on you dad Mum2One.
I have been a bit busy today but I have had some sloth time too. This morning I went to my tai chi class which was fun (I have missed it - not been for 3 weeks but that is another story), I recognised a lady there who I hadn't seen for a very long time - it was my old work colleague and chum Jean, we have re-connected and made plans to go out for lunch or a coffee. Neither of us are in work (not for want of trying to get a job) so we have to be careful - I am hoping that there is an offer on at the local pub so that we can take advantage of it. Sometimes they have offers where you can buy a meal and get one free and what we do is go halves on the meal that has to be paid for.
I took the car to tai chi today as I wanted to nip to the village afterwards to go to the library. I took 2 books back, renewed 2 books and ordered a book (it will cost me 75p to order it in but it means that I don't have to fork out the money to buy it new). I went to the post office and withdrew a tenner which I promptly spent in the butchers. There is one butcher that I will use but confess that I do not go there all the time as I buy some meat in Aldi. The butcher was selling best, lean steak mince for £5.50 and I could have 2lb weight for that cost, they are very good and bag it as 1lbs for me, I also treated myself to 2 minted lamb steaks and he picked out some fairly largish ones for me. I tend to cook both at the same time - eat one with veg and either turn the other into a sandwich when it is cold or freeze it and make a tv dinner. Meat from the butcher is not the cheapest but sometimes needs must - it also helps to keep him in business.
This afternoon, I have been like a sloth - no housework done at all and not even the applications that I promised myself that I would do. I have been going through the job description and making notes so that these can be transferred to the application form.
Also been sorting stuff out for the park - making arrangements to move classes to a different park whilst a music festival is taking place. Initially, I was only going to shift the zumba class but the tai chi one is moving too.0 -
Hi everyone
BW Re: the invite to the hen party. As you don't know what is happening and the cost then declining the invite would be the money saving option. I'm only in my early 30's and don't have any experience regarding hen parties but wouldn't feel comfortable committing myself to something with an unknown price tag. If you really want to attend: could you go to Bristol for the day or one night and stay in cheaper accommodation?
2for1 meals I don't know why restaurants just don't drop their prices instead of putting on these '2for1' deals. It is very annoying that businesses forget that some 'singlies' don't always have someone to pair up with and therefore miss out when it comes to meal deals in restaurants like '2for1' or '2 meals for £10'.
I'll run away now before some angry restaurant owner comes after me with a steak knife.... :rotfl:

Getting a bit practice in, eh? :rotfl:
I've just seen the forecast for Monday (bank hol naturally...so it's expected to rain...naturally). I intend to practice my slothdom then in the hope that practice makes perfect by our Singlies Celebration :rotfl:

Any opportunity taken for sloth practice lol. If it is going to be raining on BH Monday then I will be indoors snuggled up on the sofa with a film. I wonder if it will be another day for the central heating to go on - like today?
Spoke to mum tonight and once again she has put me off from visiting (my parents only live about 4 miles away) as she has to go shopping tomorrow and on Thursday she is having the hedge trimmed. Mum is particular about visits and I have to make an appointment (it is also her way of protecting dad who is unwell and getting progressively worse). I told her that I had found a supply of cheap bottle sterilising fluid - large bottles for £1, we use this fluid for cleaning our dishcloths.
Dinner was made and I have even managed to have leftovers which I have set aside for tomorrow (or I might freeze them as a tv dinner). I even washed up - sometimes this sloth-like person leaves the washing up until the next day.
Told mum about the apples I found in the park - she told me off for eating them as they will make me ill, it would seem that she remembers them from her childhood and that they are crab apples. I thought they were eaters - they have a dark red skin and red flesh and they are a bit tart at the mo. I might wander up the park and get some more and cook them and see what happens. I could do with getting some blackberries now that I know a sneaky place to pick them.
Must admit that I also hate the 2 for 1 deals in restaurants - I don't always have someone to take with me and it seems a little unfair. Admittedly, I don't go out much for meals and usually go to the chippy for a bag of chips (leftovers are reheated the next day).
One of my friends lives in Ilfracombe and her brother has just opened up a boutique hotel which is rather charming and what is really good about it is that there is a reduction for single occupancy - not many hotels do that, normally you get charged for two people even if you are taking up less space.0 -
Flying visit as busy at vile work, just thought I should share this gem....
National PJ day is march 12th apparently

Def agree re the 2 for 1 or the offers, I'm lucky in a way that usually have dad or dd with me, but when there is the 3 of us, we usually have the 4th meal, divide a bit between us and bring home some for the dog, - but it is a pain if your by yourself as your paying a fair bit more at times.
xxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
I don't think I can add much to the 'hen party' discussion, other than to say that if Best Friend is organising it for her, then it's likely to be filled with lots of things which will cost extra money, because Best Friend will want The Bride to have the best hen party ever, packed with all her favourite things (and to hell with the expense).
But it's years since I went to a hen party, so I'm no expert.
I did once go to a stag party, though!
I was the only woman working at this place, and the men invited me along. There had been another stag party just before I went to work there, and it had apparently got completely out of control, with the groom stripped and thrown into a pond, and all sorts of other mad stuff. It had reflected badly on the company, and management had come down like a ton of bricks, threatening to sack everyone if it happened again. So luckily the one I went to was quite tame!e cineribus resurgam("From the ashes I shall arise.")0
